Horace finally sat down. Since Marika had given the starlight shards to Rellana, that meant there was no major problem... at least not for now.
In the Scribe's Office, he sat across from the lion Serosh, a mountain of parchment scrolls between them.
The sight of the lion holding a quill in his paw was rather comical, but he wrote surprisingly fast.
"Civilian casualty reports on the left, lists of material losses on the right, reconstruction budgets in the middle." Serosh pushed three stacks of documents over with his paw, his leonine face etched with exhaustion.
"The goddess wants everything compiled by tonight."
Horace looked at the mountain of paperwork and resignedly picked up a pen.
Godfrey had originally made the dragon girl Froesanks sit down too, but the moment the first Elden Lord said, "You help out too," she had leaped up as though someone had stepped on her tail. Dragging the thoroughly reluctant Black King beside her, she had scrambled out of the Scribe's Office, leaving behind a cry of "We're going to inspect the wall defenses!" before disappearing.
Watching the dragon girl flee, Godfrey shrugged and turned to deal with military affairs (fighting).
Only the scratching of pens remained in the Scribe's Office.
Horace worked very efficiently. In just three hours, Serosh was looking at neatly organized stacks of documents. The lion's mouth opened, then closed again.
"You..." the lion began hesitantly.
"Did you use some kind of magic?"
"No. Just practice." Horace set down his pen.
He stood up and stretched his somewhat stiff shoulders.
Serosh immediately lunged over and wrapped both front paws around Horace's lower leg. "Wait! Don't go! There are still three reports to-"
"You can finish the rest in half an hour." Horace looked down at the lion clinging to his leg.
