Climbing up from the grass once again, Rayleigh did not complain this time. Instead, he frowned deeply at Ye Yang and murmured, "Something's wrong. It didn't reach the speed of light, but I couldn't dodge it or even block it. It seems... something is interfering with me!"

Seeing Rayleigh's puzzled expression, Ye Yang gave a barely perceptible smile.

"It seems... the effect is pretty good."

Without Observation Haki, landing a hit on Rayleigh would not have been so easy. After all, he was an expert who could block even Kizaru's light-speed attacks.

So he had added a little something to his attacks, making this an experiment of his own as well.

That something was-the Sharingan's ocular technique!

Although it was not the most famous technique, Tsukuyomi, it could still hypnotize people. He had used the ocular technique to interfere with Rayleigh's brain, obstructing the transmission of Observation Haki and disrupting his physical reactions, leaving Rayleigh unable to dodge his attacks.

Clearly, it worked very well. Perhaps he could use it as a trump card against Observation Haki in the future.

"Actually, this is one of my attack techniques," Ye Yang explained to Rayleigh.

Hearing this, Rayleigh nodded thoughtfully. "I see."

There were so many strange techniques in the world that one targeting Observation Haki was not all that unusual.

"Throw another punch at me, but don't use that strange technique of yours."

Having suffered twice, Rayleigh added that reminder.

"All right." Ye Yang nodded and did not activate the Sharingan's ability again.

He looked straight at Rayleigh and threw a straight punch with half his strength.

Rayleigh's eyes narrowed slightly. Just as the fist came within a finger's breadth of him and was about to land, he suddenly shifted his feet and turned his body slightly sideways.

The fist brushed past his shoulder as he narrowly dodged the punch.

Ye Yang frowned slightly and threw another punch.

Rayleigh tilted his head, avoiding the attack once again.

Ye Yang stopped attacking and looked at Rayleigh, resting his hand against his chin as he sank into thought.

Rayleigh did not disturb him. Producing a bottle of rum from somewhere, he sat on the grass and began drinking.

And so, silence settled over them for a while.

After some time, Ye Yang raised his head, a gleam flashing in his eyes. "Uncle Rayleigh, try attacking me."

Rayleigh set down his bottle and stood up, looking at Ye Yang with interest. "Ye Yang, have you already grasped the key to Observation Haki?"

With the earlier precedent of Armament Haki, he would no longer be shocked even if Ye Yang learned Observation Haki immediately this time.

Ye Yang shrugged and answered noncommittally, "Probably."

"I see..." Rayleigh glanced down at the ground, then bent over and picked up a few stones. Smiling, he said, "I'll try these stones first, then, and see whether you can dodge them."

"Mm." Ye Yang nodded and closed his eyes without another word.

Rayleigh narrowed his eyes, picked up a stone in his right hand, and hurled it forward!

Bang!

The stone tore through the air with a shrill sound of friction, flying rapidly toward Ye Yang!

With his eyes tightly shut, Ye Yang turned his head, his ears twitching constantly as though he were trying hard to distinguish something.

The next instant, he abruptly crouched. The stone shot straight over him and smashed into a large rock behind him, shattering it outright!

"That's really not bad." Rayleigh clearly was not particularly surprised by the result. After grinning, he picked up another stone, aimed at Ye Yang, and hurled it.

This time, Ye Yang did not take long to discern it. A second after the stone was thrown, he stepped straight to the left and avoided the strike.

"Oh? Have you improved? Then how about this!"

Rayleigh's smile widened. He closed his hand around the remaining stones and threw them all at Ye Yang at once.

Five stones in total shot toward Ye Yang through the air like five whistling bullets!

This time, Ye Yang did not choose to dodge. Instead, he stood where he was, continually discerning the directions from which the stones approached.

Then, the instant the five stones reached him, his right hand swept out, becoming a blur. When it stopped again, all five stones lay quietly in his palm!

Clapping, Rayleigh walked over, his gaze full of admiration as he looked at Ye Yang. "It looks like you really can use Observation Haki now. That means you've learned both types of Haki. All you lack is practice using them."

Ye Yang opened his eyes and smiled. "Thank you, Uncle Rayleigh."

"No need to thank me. I didn't really teach you much." Rayleigh shook his head. "But you really are a little monster through and through, learning both types of Haki just like that. Back then, I had to train for a long time before I could do what you just did... Ah, I'm really getting old!"

Ye Yang merely smiled at Rayleigh's lament without offering much of a response.

The main reasons he could learn both types of Haki so quickly were his Sharingan and his own thorough understanding of their functions and essence. With those two things combined, it would have been difficult not to learn them quickly!
