| Bonded with the Forbidden Magic Book | 1 | The book merges with him and transports him from Earth, giving him access to its character-unsealing system. |
| Madara Uchiha’s complete power — ★★★★★ | 2 5 | Uses his free first unsealing to inherit Madara’s entire power rather than summon him. This inheritance is already complete and cannot be upgraded with Negative Points. |
| Basic Armament Haki | 10 | Copies Rayleigh’s demonstration with the Sharingan within minutes, then successfully reproduces the coating without activating his eyes. |
| Observation Haki | 11 | Learns to sense incoming attacks with his eyes closed, first dodging Rayleigh’s stones and then catching five together. |

| High-Speed Regeneration inherited | 22 23 | Extracts Ulquiorra’s regeneration ability. A self-inflicted wrist cut heals almost instantly without leaving a mark. |
| Ulquiorra upgraded — ★★★★☆ | 35 | Uses Negative Points to strengthen his subordinate. Ulquiorra reports an approximately 50% power increase, which Ye Yang interprets as reaching the peak of first-stage Resurrección. |
Background / History
Arrival in the Pirate World
Ye Yang inadvertently activated a black book while cleaning on Earth. The Forbidden Magic Book merged with him and transported him to another world because Earth’s declining magic would hinder the path to godhood it intended for him. Unable to return immediately and possessing few strong ties to Earth, he accepted his situation. Memories supplied by the book allowed him to recognize the setting as the world of One Piece, an anime he had followed 1.
After inheriting Madara Uchiha’s power, he awoke aboard a merchant vessel bound for Sabaody. When the Blood Axe Pirates attacked, he intervened both to repay the merchants for rescuing and feeding him and to test his new abilities. He destroyed the pirate ship, took Captain Kuangsi’s Log Pose, and reached Sabaody by running across the sea in just over five hours rather than waiting two days aboard the vessel 2 3 4 5.
Bounty Hunting and Haki Training
At Shakky’s Rip-off Bar, Ye Yang offered information about Gol D. Roger’s surviving child in exchange for Rayleigh’s instruction in Haki and knowledge of Devil Fruit locations. He supplied the name Portgas D. Rouge as evidence and learned that a Devil Fruit would be auctioned in Area 1 five days later 6 7.
Penniless, he hunted three Supernovas to fund his purchase. Fierce Tiger Reika, worth 180 million Beli, was his final target; the three captures earned him 420 million Beli in total. He then trained with Rayleigh and announced that he belonged to neither the Marines nor the pirates, but to his own Dark Forbidden Legion 7 9 10 12.
Auction House Incident
By the auction, Ye Yang had become known as the Black Hunter. His 400-million-Beli bid for a Paramecia Devil Fruit was overridden by Saint Charlos, who offered only 100 million and ordered the Marines to gouge out Ye Yang’s eyes. Ye Yang killed the arresting Marines and fought Vice Admiral Lorn 13 15 16.
During the chaos, Jeraff attempted to steal and eat the fruit. Ye Yang used a duplicate to kill him, recovered the fruit, and had the Forbidden Magic Book absorb it. He then seized Charlos and demanded five Devil Fruits and one billion Beli, ultimately accepting two fruits and 500 million Beli as an initial exchange 16 17 18 20.
Lorn attacked after Charlos’s release. Ye Yang retaliated, killed Charlos with a fire attack, and left Lorn severely injured but alive so that his resentment could continue producing Negative Points 20 21.
Defeat and Ransom of the Admirals
At the deserted Area 1 harbor, Ye Yang summoned Ulquiorra and appointed him the Dark Forbidden Legion’s Fourth Forbidden Blade and his personal guard. Rather than flee, they waited for the Admirals 22 23.
Ulquiorra fought Kizaru while Ye Yang overwhelmed Akainu with Susanoo. Ye Yang also accepted the surrender of the accompanying Marines, protected them when Akainu attacked them, and urged them to publicize their Admiral’s actions 24 26 29 30 32.
After both Admirals were defeated, Ye Yang spared them and negotiated their release with Sengoku. His initial demand of ten Devil Fruits and one billion Beli became an agreed ransom of six Devil Fruits and 1.5 billion Beli 33 34 35.
Confrontation with Sengoku and Garp
Sengoku attacked after the ransom exchange, prompting Ye Yang to activate Susanoo and summon a meteor hundreds of meters across with Tengai Shinsei. Garp asked him not to interfere while the Marines stopped it, and Ye Yang agreed to leave 36 37.
At Area 17, he explained to Ulquiorra that killing their enemies immediately would waste their future value. Sengoku, Garp, and Doberman remained behind to deal with the meteor 38.
Appearance
Ye Yang is a handsome young man whose appearance gains a domineering presence after his fusion with Madara’s power 6.
- Features: Sharply defined face and fair skin 6.
- Hair: Medium-length black hair, worn casually loose 6.
- Eyes: Normally bright black; activating the Rinnegan turns them pale blue with concentric rings of blue radiance 2 6.
- Build: Appears slender enough that opponents underestimate his physical strength 4 8.
Personality
Ye Yang is naturally calm and adaptable. He questions the Forbidden Magic Book without panicking, accepts his inability to return to Earth, and quickly turns his attention toward exploring his new world and becoming stronger. His confidence becomes more pronounced after inheriting Madara’s power, along with some of Madara’s pride and resistance to being suppressed 1 2 12.
He frequently mocks opponents, deliberately provoking anger both for amusement and to earn Negative Points. His treatment of enemies is calculating: he kills when convenient, but preserves defeated opponents when their hatred, ransom value, or future usefulness offers a greater return 9 21 27 33 34 38.
His concern for others is selective. He repays the merchants who saved him, discourages Ulquiorra from kneeling, and honors his promise to protect surrendering Marines. Conversely, he is willing to endanger Sabaody and considers saving Shakky rather than unrelated bystanders if the confrontation escalates 3 5 23 30 37.
Abilities & Skills
Forbidden Magic Book
The book resides within Ye Yang’s mind and provides the foundation of his power acquisition 1.
- Rule power: Absorbs Devil Fruits to obtain the resource needed to unseal characters. Absorbed fruits crumble into dust rather than being eaten 1 17.
- Summoning: Releases a character as an independent subordinate who obeys him 1.
- Power fusion: Transfers a character’s abilities into Ye Yang, but prevents that character from appearing independently 1.
- Skill extraction: Allows him to select an ability from an unsealed character; he chooses Ulquiorra’s High-Speed Regeneration 1 22.
- Unlocking odds: Spending more rule power increases the probability of obtaining a powerful character 22.
Negative Points and Character Upgrades
Negative Points are generated by hatred, anger, disgust, and other negative emotions directed at Ye Yang 5.
- Stronger individuals generate more points, making powerful enemies especially valuable 9.
- Points restore unlocked characters’ power through star ratings; Madara’s free, complete inheritance is exempt from further upgrades 5.
- Killing enemies too quickly can limit their contribution. Ye Yang receives only ten points after destroying the Blood Axe Pirates, encouraging his later practice of leaving useful enemies alive 5 9.
- Large-scale resentment also benefits him: the panic caused by Charlos’s kidnapping produces a flood of points from Sabaody’s pirates and civilians 20.
Madara Uchiha’s Inheritance
Ye Yang inherits Madara’s complete power and battle-honed perception rather than a reduced starting version 2 3 5.
- Physical strength: Stops a swordsman’s blade between two fingers and blocks Reika’s Devil Fruit- and Armament-enhanced punch with one palm 4 9.
- Speed: Uses rapid movement and the Body Flicker Technique to intercept fleeing opponents 9 16.
- Water-surface movement: Stands, walks, and runs across the sea 3 5.
- Chakra weapons: Creates a kunai capable of severing Reika’s Armament-coated arm 9.
- Duplicates: Uses a second version of himself to attack Jeraff from behind and retrieve the auctioned fruit; the duplicate disappears in smoke afterward 17.
Ocular Powers
Ye Yang can activate both the Sharingan and Rinnegan inherited through his fusion 2 10.
- Sharingan copying: Successfully applies its copying ability to basic Armament Haki, despite uncertainty over whether it would work on another world’s techniques 10.
- Observation interference: Uses an eye-related technique that prevents Rayleigh from properly dodging his punches. Rayleigh evades them once Ye Yang stops using it 10 11.
- Immobilization: Akainu identifies Ye Yang’s eyes as the cause of his inability to move before Yasaka no Magatama strikes 32.
- Rinnegan: Demonstrates its activation shortly after the fusion, though no separately named Rinnegan technique is identified in that initial test 2.
Ninjutsu and Susanoo
His inherited techniques support large-scale offense, defense, and battlefield control 4 16 29 30 36.
- Wood Release: Wood Dragon Jutsu: Creates a giant wooden dragon that destroys the Blood Axe Pirates’ ship and later defeats Lorn 4 21.
- Wood Release: Wooden Ingot Wall: Shields Ye Yang and the surrendering Marines from Akainu’s Meteor Volcano 30.
- Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique: Blasts a large hole through the bar during his confrontation with Reika 8.
- Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame: Overwhelms Lorn’s flying slash and devastates the auction house 16.
- Fire Style: Dragon Flame Song Technique: Produces four expanding fire dragons used in the attack that kills Charlos 21.
- Susanoo: Manifests a towering blue-flamed giant with chakra blades. It withstands Akainu’s attacks with only slight cracking and repeatedly cuts apart his magma body 29 32.
- Yasaka no Magatama: Launches five blue projectiles whose explosion shakes Sabaody and leaves Akainu in a crater 32.
- Tengai Shinsei: Calls down a meteor hundreds of meters across, forcing Sengoku, Garp, and Doberman to focus on stopping it 36 38.
Three Types of Haki
Ye Yang acquires all three types during his brief training with Rayleigh, though his initial Armament coating is explicitly basic 10 11 12.
- Armament Haki: Produces a black coating that he can activate independently of the Sharingan 10.
- Observation Haki: Senses incoming attacks without looking, demonstrated by dodging and catching thrown stones 11.
- Conqueror’s Haki: Releases an aura that knocks ordinary people unconscious; his first burst lasts approximately three or four seconds before he withdraws it 12.
High-Speed Regeneration
The ability extracted from Ulquiorra rapidly repairs bodily damage 22 23.
- Heals a wrist cut in the blink of an eye, leaving neither pain nor a visible mark 23.
- Can regenerate severed limbs, but excludes the brain and internal organs 22.
- Ye Yang selects it over additional offensive abilities and Hollow transformations because he already has ample attack power and doubts the transformations’ compatibility and stability 22.
Control of Summoned Bodies
The forbidden mark on a summoned character allows Ye Yang to possess that character’s body 22.
- Controls Ulquiorra while retaining consciousness in his own body 33.
- Uses Armament Haki through Ulquiorra during possession 33.
- Ulquiorra remains aware of bodily sensations despite his consciousness being temporarily sealed, allowing him to remember unfamiliar powers and potentially learn them afterward 33.
- Ulquiorra reports no discomfort from the possession 33.
