"I'm finished?"
Shane couldn't help laughing aloud at Garp's words.
His spirit soared with arrogance. What a glorious feeling!
"You king of opportunists, king of team-ups! You say I'm no match for Rocks while teaming up with Sengoku to fight me!"
"Come alone someday when I'm back at full strength. If I don't beat lumps all over your head, I'm no king of the New World!"
"Sengoku! Since you're all trying to gauge how much strength I have left, let me show you!"
Shane shouted several times in succession.
He had indeed exhausted nearly ninety percent of his stamina, and repeatedly recovering to full strength had pushed his body to its limits.
It could be imagined as a balloon, repeatedly deflated and inflated, each time brought to the verge of bursting.
That balloon was on the verge of weakening. A single prick of a needle anywhere on its surface would burst it.
Weak?
Shane didn't think so.
The human body differed somewhat from a balloon. As long as it could withstand the tempering, its constitution could grow stronger and its strength advance further, whereas the quality of a balloon would not change because of it.
That was also why the battle-hungry people of the seas could instead temper themselves through repeated brushes with death.
"The victor becomes king, the loser an outlaw. I know the world never asks why those shattered sailing ships sank to the seabed, nor does it talk about yesterday's past."
"And I've never cared about the judgments of petty scoundrels. As long as I can claim the absolute highest position in this world, any judgment will be nothing but passing smoke."
Shane's demonic body seemed to have undergone repeated tempering, becoming a body reforged through water and fire.
