Ch. 121Alice's summons

Dunn spent his days admiring the young Mermaids while enduring the frustration of keeping his distance. When Alice summoned him, he took Elvia’s hand and was enveloped by a powerful magical force.

  • Elvia explained that the creatures in these waters had lost the ability to reproduce more than twenty years ago, and Dunn suspected Eddinger was involved.
  • While the Mermaids played with Monet, Elvia froze as Alice contacted her, and Monet’s sand ball struck Elvia.
  • Elvia told Monet and the other Mermaids that Alice was communicating with her, then informed Dunn that Alice wanted to see him.
  • Dunn agreed to go with Elvia and took her hand, and a powerful magical force enveloped them both.

Ch. 122A fireball to the face

Dunn met Alice in her study, where a surprise Fireball showed her powerful magic and left him unharmed. After the Tower Spirit explained Alice’s difficulty speaking to strangers, Alice asked Dunn for help because his combat resilience was exceptional for a third-tier professional.

  • Elvia teased Dunn about surviving Alice’s unpleasant teleportation spell, then Alice teleported Elvia away from her study.
  • Alice remained silent as Dunn tried to get her attention, then struck him with a Fireball when he approached her.
  • The Tower Spirit arrived and explained that Alice struggled to speak when alone with strangers.
  • Alice warned Dunn not to approach her without permission and explained that she had sent Elvia away because their discussion was private.
  • Alice asked Dunn for help and praised him for surviving her powerful Fireball despite being only a third-tier professional.

Ch. 123The commission

Dunn accepted Alice’s commission to investigate the cause of the Archipelago’s inhabitants losing their ability to reproduce, since the threat adapts to the tier of whoever enters and requires someone who can fight above their tier. He secured Alice’s promise to escort him and his companions safely out of the Storm Sea in exchange for taking the job.

  • Alice told Dunn that no one in the Archipelago could fight above their tier and that the commission’s secret should remain undisclosed.
  • Dunn accepted the commission because he needed Alice’s help to leave the Storm Sea safely.
  • Alice revealed that the Archipelago’s races had lost the ability to reproduce and that she knew the problem’s root but could not resolve it.
  • Alice explained that the Wizard Tower could not reach the location, and that its 'things' matched the tier of whoever entered.
  • Dunn understood why Alice needed someone who could fight above their tier and asked for payment.
  • Alice agreed to escort Dunn and his companions safely out of the Storm Sea.

Ch. 124Troublesome

Dunn arrived on a lush island to find its plants infused with magic and controlled by a hidden transcendent creature. As Night Feather cleared the plants and the creature sent powerful trees to attack, Dunn used his remaining souls on the trees.

  • Dunn surveyed the island and found that his Observation Haki could not distinguish the hidden creature among the abundant life.
  • The island's plants attacked Dunn, but his Conqueror's Color Haki failed to affect them because they had no consciousness of their own.
  • Dunn sent Night Feather spinning through the plants, allowing it to cut them down while he stayed alert for the hidden creature.
  • The creature uprooted several powerful trees that quickly healed from Night Feather's attacks.
  • Dunn scattered his remaining souls toward the third-tier trees.

Ch. 125A Wizard?

After animating several Third Tier trees and freeing them from a mysterious force’s control, Dunn discovered that the force belonged to a human Wizard. Dunn suspected the Wizard was part of a conflict between Destiny Legendary Wizards and attacked him, fearing he would otherwise be trapped in the dispute.

  • Dunn used his remaining souls to create Homies from the Third Tier trees, which broke free of the Transcendent creature’s control.
  • A refined, human-looking man in a Wizard’s robe appeared, and Dunn recognized him as the likely source of the control.
  • Dunn transformed and charged the Wizard, but dodged a Corruption Ray that withered the plants across a wide area.
  • Dunn identified the man as a Life School Wizard and suspected he was challenging His Eminence Eddinger on behalf of another Destiny Legendary Wizard.
  • Dunn enveloped himself and the Wizard in black mist and attacked, but the Wizard located him and fired several Corruption Rays that blocked his escape.

Ch. 126Dealt with

Dunn killed the middle-aged Wizard by exploiting his unfamiliarity with Dunn’s abilities, then destroyed the Wizard’s remains to prevent his recovery. When the Wizard re-formed from green motes gathered from the island’s plants, Dunn discovered he could not harm him and retreated.

  • Dunn vanished to evade the middle-aged Wizard’s Corruption Ray, then appeared behind him and struck his Magic Shield with the black umbrella.
  • Dunn pierced the shield with a crimson Bloodline that made the Wizard’s blood and magic power turn against him, causing his body to explode.
  • The Wizard began regenerating, but Dunn crushed his head and corroded every trace of his scattered flesh and blood.
  • Green motes gathered from the island’s plants and formed another body for the middle-aged Wizard.
  • Dunn attacked the re-formed Wizard with his umbrella and other abilities, but none could harm him, so Dunn retreated.

Ch. 127Eddinger!

Dunn learned that the middle-aged Wizard was Eddinger, Alice’s teacher, who had died after Augustus, the Speaker of the Wizard Council, wounded him and split his soul. Eddinger explained that his dying Magic Power caused the Sterility Curse and that he had brought Alice back to stop his other personality; he ended by praising her as an outstanding Wizard.

  • Eddinger identified himself to Dunn and revealed that he was already dead, leaving only his remaining Magic Power behind.
  • Dunn asked how Eddinger had died, and Eddinger named Augustus, the Speaker of the Wizard Council, as his killer.
  • Eddinger explained that Augustus’s final spell grievously wounded him and split his soul, creating another personality that drained his power.
  • Eddinger said he had chosen death and restricted the other personality’s power, then brought Alice back in the hope that she would eventually stop it.
  • Eddinger admitted that losing control of his Magic Power had caused the Sterility Curse and said Alice had become an outstanding Wizard.

Ch. 128Silencing a witness?

Dunn realized Alice might kill him to keep Eddinger’s death and the Sterility Curse secret, while Alice struggled to decide what to do. She proposed a contract that would keep Dunn silent and within her reach until she advanced to Legendary, leaving him alarmed by how long that could take.

  • Eddinger told Dunn that Alice had once gone soft and failed to kill him, then his remaining consciousness faded away.
  • Dunn confirmed Eddinger was dead, but Alice teleported him back to the Wizard Tower before he could consider what to do next.
  • Dunn realized Alice could silence him to protect the Wizard Tower from the dangers of Eddinger’s death becoming known.
  • The Tower Spirit explained the risk to Alice, who hesitated to kill Dunn despite understanding the danger.
  • Alice proposed that Dunn sign a contract to keep the information secret and remain where she could monitor him until she advanced to Legendary.
  • Dunn accepted that a contract was reasonable but worried that a Wizard’s advancement could take decades or even more than a century.

Ch. 129Negotiations

Dunn refused to remain in the Wizard Tower for years and offered to protect Alice’s secret with a River Styx Contract. After they signed it, he proposed helping her control unruly races in exchange for her help with his own problems, and Alice considered the deal.

  • Dunn rejected Alice’s condition that would keep him in the Wizard Tower for years and proposed a River Styx Contract instead.
  • Dunn agreed to have his soul destroyed if he revealed Alice’s secret, and Alice accepted after considering his resolve and abilities.
  • After signing the contract, Dunn inferred that some of the Wizard Tower’s subjects were becoming difficult for Alice to control.
  • Dunn offered to help Alice deal with the unruly races in exchange for her assistance with his own troubles.
  • Alice considered the proposal, knowing that the races’ growing defiance could turn into rebellion if they learned what had happened to Eddinger.

Ch. 130Apprentice

Alice agreed to cooperate with Dunn and take Monet as her Wizard Apprentice, while Dunn agreed to handle the problems she had identified. After Dunn returned to the Base and told Monet about her new teacher, the Tower Spirit warned Alice that Dunn would never become her Follower and might use her sense of indebtedness to ask for more.

  • Alice accepted Dunn's offer to deal with her problems in exchange for taking Monet as her Wizard Apprentice.
  • The Tower Spirit offered to handle Monet's early instruction so Alice could focus on reaching Legendary.
  • Dunn returned to the Base, where Annie scolded him for visiting the Wizard Tower without her.
  • Dunn told Monet that Alice would be her teacher, and Monet agreed to the arrangement.
  • Alice asked the Tower Spirit why it had stopped her from making Dunn a Follower, and it explained that Dunn was too ambitious to serve another.
  • The Tower Spirit warned Alice that Dunn had made her feel indebted and might later ask for more, but said cooperation with him was still worthwhile.

Ch. 131Taking action

Dunn and Annie left the Wizard Tower to deal with the restless races, starting with the Fishmen on Waves Island. After teleporting the Black Pearl to the island, Dunn ordered the crew to open fire as the Fishmen charged.

  • Alice accepted Monet as her apprentice, and Monet moved into the Wizard Tower to study with the Tower Spirit.
  • Annie secured permission to visit Monet, then Dunn took her aboard the Black Pearl to help fight the restless races.
  • Dunn chose the Fishmen on Waves Island as their first target because they attacked other races and defied Alice's rules.
  • Dunn used Alice's Compass to teleport the Black Pearl near Waves Island.
  • Dozens of Fishmen charged toward the Black Pearl, and Dunn ordered it to open fire.

Ch. 132Time to strike!

Dunn and his crew attacked the Fishman tribe on Billow Island, where Annie’s strongest spell was overwhelmed by the newly revealed [Sea King]. Dunn engaged the [Sea King] in close combat, and the chapter ended as a massive wave of seawater crashed down toward him.

  • Cannons and Annie’s tornado killed many Fishmen as they fled toward Billow Island.
  • The [Sea King] destroyed Annie’s tornado with a column of water, and Annie flew off to fight the five Third Tiers.
  • Dunn ordered Black Pearl to clear out the weaker Fishmen and flew toward the island to face the [Sea King].
  • Dunn and the [Sea King] clashed on the beach, and Dunn found that the Fishman’s physical strength matched his own enhanced strength.
  • The [Sea King] roared and sent seawater crashing down toward Dunn.

Ch. 133An easy kill

Dunn lured the Fishman [Sea King] into a high-speed attack and killed it with Night Feather. He then checked on Annie, who remained locked in a stalemate with five Third Tier Fishmen, and turned his attention to the [Black Pearl].

  • Dunn evaded the Fishman [Sea King]'s attacks while baiting it into charging from the sea.
  • The Fishman [Sea King] struck at Dunn but missed after he vanished, and Dunn pierced its chest with Night Feather.
  • Dunn pulled Night Feather from the dying Fishman [Sea King] and collected its blood with Blood Manipulation.
  • Dunn saw Annie bombard five Third Tier Fishmen with spells, though neither side could finish the fight.
  • Dunn turned to check the situation around the [Black Pearl].

Ch. 134Exactly the same

Dunn joined Annie after the Black Pearl and its crew handled the fleeing Fishmen, then took over the fight against the remaining Third Tier Fishmen. He killed them all with his black umbrella, Armament Haki, and Blood Manipulation, including a Sea Beast Priest whose tentacles had once nearly defeated him.

  • Dunn saw that the Black Pearl needed no support and went to Annie, who had nearly exhausted her magic power.
  • Annie handed the remaining Third Tier Fishmen over to Dunn, and he quickly killed two with his black umbrella and Blood Manipulation.
  • Three Fishmen charged Dunn, and one transformed his arms into tentacles like the Sea Beast Priest that had nearly beaten Dunn in the Ancient Pirate King's ruins.
  • Dunn caught the tentacles with Armament Haki and swung the Sea Beast Priest into the other two Fishmen, then killed them by driving their blood into their brains.
  • Dunn tore flesh from the Sea Beast Priest's tentacles and made blood spikes erupt inside its body, killing it.

Ch. 135Reactions

After wiping out the Fishman Tribe, Dunn returned to rest before pursuing the stronger races and arranged for Alice to help him. News that Dunn’s group had restored the sea region’s ability to reproduce turned them into heroes, leaving Alice jealous of Dunn’s growing popularity.

  • Dunn and the [Black Pearl] finished slaughtering the Fishmen, with only a few escaping underwater.
  • Dunn told Annie they would rest before attacking stronger races and planned to ask Alice for help; he then used the Compass to teleport the [Black Pearl] back.
  • News of the Fishman Tribe’s destruction spread, making many races fear and resent Dunn and his companions.
  • Reports of pregnancies emerged across the sea region, and Alice confirmed that Dunn and his companions had solved the infertility problem.
  • Dunn and his companions became widely celebrated, and Alice complained to the Tower Spirit that Dunn’s standing had surpassed hers.

Ch. 136Help

Dunn and Alice watched the Snakefolk and Naga react to Dunn curing the Sterility Curse and killing the Fishmen as they assessed which races might rebel. Dunn planned to build a power base in the waters but asked Alice for help dealing with the remaining threats, especially the Dragonkin.

  • The Snakefolk praised the newcomers for curing their sterility and complained about Alice’s restrictions.
  • The Naga chief warned his tribe to stay out of the Dragonkin’s proposal and keep their distance from them.
  • Dunn and his companions watched the Snakefolk and Naga through images in Alice’s Wizard Tower.
  • Alice explained that Dunn’s actions were helping her judge which races needed to be purged and which only needed punishment.
  • Dunn considered the waters important to his future power base and said the Dragonkin would be difficult to handle because they had three Fourth Tier Classholders.
  • Dunn told Alice he needed help dealing with the remaining races.

Ch. 137Legendary Battleship [Black Pearl]

Dunn persuaded Alice to enchant the [Black Pearl], turning it into a Legendary Battleship with formidable weapons, defenses, and energy reserves. The upgraded vessel became the pirate crew’s strongest combat force, while Alice stayed angry with Dunn.

  • Dunn asked Alice to help him upgrade the [Black Pearl] into a Legendary Battleship, and she objected to the enormous workload.
  • Alice used the Wizard Tower’s assistance to enchant the ship, completing the work in a few days.
  • The [Black Pearl] gained over a hundred magical cannons, powerful energy-gathering arrays, and a purple crystal ball as its energy core.
  • Alice turned the ship’s ivory tusks into main cannons that fired fourth-tier Annihilation Rays and added powerful shields and reinforced runes.
  • Dunn learned that the completed [Black Pearl] had become the pirate crew’s strongest combat force, while Alice refused to see him.

Ch. 138Dragonkin

Dunn took the Legendary warship Black Pearl to Dragonbreath Island to deal with the rebellious Dragonkin. The Black Pearl fired its main cannon at a gathering of the island’s strongest residents, and the Dragonkin chief realized the danger too late to react.

  • The Tower Spirit questioned whether the Black Pearl could be trusted, and Dunn reassured it that the ship was like his child.
  • The Tower Spirit urged Dunn to set off, and Dunn eagerly agreed to put the Black Pearl to work.
  • Dunn arrived near Dragonbreath Island, where the arrogant Dragonkin had left the shore unwatched.
  • Dunn used Observation Haki to locate the strongest life-forms and ordered the Black Pearl to aim its main cannon at them.
  • The Black Pearl charged and fired a beam toward the Dragonkin chief’s banquet, and the chief could not react in time.

Ch. 139The might of a legendary warship

Dunn and the Black Pearl attacked Dragonbreath Island, splitting it with the Annihilation Ray and then bombarding the Dragonkin with Magic Shells. The Dragonkin were exterminated, and the Black Pearl destroyed their Chief when he reached the ship.

  • The Black Pearl fired its Annihilation Ray and split Dragonbreath Island in two.
  • The wounded Dragonkin Chief emerged with dozens of third-tier Dragonkin, while the ray had killed the other two fourth-tier Dragonkin.
  • Dunn left the Dragonkin to Black Pearl, which launched barrages of third-tier Magic Shells at them.
  • The bombardment killed the Dragonkin until only the Chief remained.
  • The Dragonkin Chief reached the Black Pearl, roared Eddinger's name, and was crushed by Black Pearl's anchor.

Ch. 140Preparing to leave

Dunn crushed the races that defied Alice’s rules, bringing peace to the sea, then gathered with his companions in the Wizard Tower to say goodbye before leaving to advance. As Alice offered help, Dunn revealed he had a favor to ask, leaving her wary of what he intended.

  • Dunn spared most of the vassal races on Dragonbreath Island and quickly wiped out several other restless races that opposed Alice.
  • News of the exterminations spread, and within half a month the sea’s races began obeying Alice’s rules.
  • Dunn, Annie, Elvia, Alice, Monet, and the others gathered in the Wizard Tower to say goodbye as Dunn and his companions prepared to leave.
  • Annie reassured Alice that they would return, while Dunn refused Elvia’s request to join them because the outside world was dangerous for Mermaids.
  • Dunn encouraged Monet to study under Alice and the Tower Spirit, then accepted Alice’s offer of help and announced that he had a favor to ask.
