At a banquet in Alabasta, Boer rejected taking sides in the kingdom’s dispute but proposed restoring the desert by blocking sunlight, redirecting water, and growing trees with Aramaki’s help. He then exposed Crocodile’s failed search for Pluton and urged him to protect Alabasta instead, leaving Crocodile alone with the choice of what to do next.
The four Emperors founded a nation on Hachinosu, but threats from the Marines targeted their homelands as Shanks received a warning from his father. Aboard the Moby Dick, Teach killed Thatch to take the Dark-Dark Fruit and walked away with it.
Crocodile secretly funded Alabasta’s recovery while Boer restored its climate and built underground waterways, bringing rain, water, and new growth to the kingdom. After Alabasta began to recover and Cobra’s standing improved, Boer continued helping Uta and returned to Carina, who comforted him and asked what he would do once his work was finished.
Nami and Luffy set sail aboard the Cat Burglar, but their first week at sea brought empty supplies, news that Uta was ill, and a sudden violent storm. As the boat was swallowed by towering waves, Nami secured Luffy inside a barrel and tied herself to it, determined to keep him alive.
Koby endured abuse as a captive of the Alvida Pirates until he ate the Smooth-Smooth Fruit and fought back. He left Alvida’s crew dead and reported to the Navy’s 153rd Branch to enlist.
In Alabasta, Boer watched the country recover, witnessed Cobra and Koza reconcile, and accepted Vivi’s intimate farewell while Carina joined them. Meanwhile, Luffy’s crew gathered its members and met Robin on the way to Alabasta, where Luffy asked her to join.
Boer ordered the World Government to organize a global concert tour for Uta, then met with Imu in the Flower Room. Imu acknowledged that Boer had surpassed the reach of Imu’s power and agreed not to stop his effort to let people govern themselves.
Ace confronted Teach on Banaro Island over Thatch’s murder and refused to join him, beginning a fierce battle between the Flame-Flame Fruit and the Dark-Dark Fruit. The chapter ended as their Haki and ultimate attacks collided, splitting the sky between fire and darkness.
The Five Elders debated Blackbeard’s Shichibukai appointment and whether to execute Ace after learning of his identity and ties to Garp. Fearing that killing Ace could drive Garp and Aaron Ball away from the World Government, they postponed the decision and sent others to speak with them.
Ace was delivered to Impel Down, burdened by guilt over the danger his capture had caused Garp, Whitebeard, and Aaron Ball. Tsuru arranged a quiet Level Six cell ahead of Saint Nusjuro’s visit as the Marines prepared for Garp and Aaron Ball to arrive.
In Impel Down's Level Six, Saint Nusjuro offered Ace freedom and power if he joined the Shichibukai, but Ace refused to betray Whitebeard or kill Blackbeard for the World Government. Boer and Garp visited him, and Ace apologized before they left, resolved to face the consequences of his own choice.
After Ace’s capture, the Navy prepared for war while Garp decided to make a contract with Imu to save his grandson. At Hachinosu, Red-Hair persuaded the other Emperors to unite and attack Marineford to rescue Ace, leaving the Four Emperors committed to war.
As the World Government prepared to execute Portgas D. Ace and summoned the Shichibukai, Saint Garling revealed Uta’s Figarland heritage and postponed her concert tour. Kuma visited Boer in his expanding private world, discussed war and the Revolutionary Army’s plans, and left with Boer’s warning that replacing one ruling power with another was not worth bloodshed.
The Shichibukai visited Aaron Boer at Mary Geoise before the Paramount War, each pursuing their own interests and trying to learn where he stood. Boer said he would not intervene directly but would go to Marineford, then asked about the absent Shichibukai.
Marine forces and the Shichibukai assembled at Marineford as Ace was brought to the execution platform, while Boer watched unseen from another dimension. The four Emperors’ fleets approached with overwhelming numbers, and the chapter ended with the war on the brink of beginning.
Garp stopped the Four Emperors’ combined assault on Marineford with a single punch, revealing his restored youth and overwhelming power. As Ace struggled to understand the change in his grandfather, Kong also appeared in his prime and transformed into the Feathered Serpent God.
The Marines launched an all-out assault on the Four Emperors’ forces and quickly gained the upper hand, with Garp overwhelming Kaido and Linlin. As the battle was broadcast worldwide, Whitebeard called on them to join forces and take Garp down.
Boer watched the deaths at Marineford and brought the fallen into his Real World, where Reflection showed them how they had died and ended their fighting. He told the souls they could not return, opened a feast in his Utopia, and brought Uta to sing as new dead continued to arrive while the living battle raged on.
Jinbe chose to help Luffy save Ace despite his debts to Whitebeard and Boer, while Luffy reached the execution platform and discovered that he could not touch Ace. Boer challenged Luffy to consider the consequences of his choices and the limits of his strength, then promised to take the brothers away after Garp’s fight was settled, leaving Luffy to join the battlefield’s strange banquet.
Garp fought Kaido and Linlin while Imu’s contract pushed him to help kill the Emperors, but the suffering of the Marines under his command restored his will. Whitebeard ordered his sons to escape, then stayed behind to face Garp, Kaido, Linlin, and the Marines as the remnants of the old era.
Boer reunited Robin with Carina after rescuing Ace and sending him to Luffy, while the battle at Marineford continued. Robin and Carina confronted Boer over his behavior, then Robin told him she would return whenever she missed him.
Whitebeard, Kaido, and Linlin died after the Marines overwhelmed them, while Boer collected the rules of their Devil Fruits. By taking the Soul-Soul Fruit’s rules into his core, Boer opened a cycle that strengthened him through the souls in his Real World, where he offered them a contract for limited control over their surroundings.
Teach avoided the Battle of Marineford and went to Impel Down, where he recruited legendary prisoners and formed a loose alliance with Bullet and the Red Count. After the deaths of Whitebeard, Kaido, and Linlin, the New World entered the Post-Four Emperors Era as Boer’s Real World continued to take shape.
Aaron Ball outlived Carina and Robin, becoming the planet’s magnetic field as the world gradually forgot his deeds and recast him as a creator god or legendary king. He remained alone but did not regret winning the gamble that let humanity build a world without Imu’s rule.
