After all, advancing to the Rinnegan took too long. Lin Ze could not spend decades idling away like Madara Uchiha, nor would Nagato and Black Zetsu give him that much time.
Third: testing fusion with Hashirama cells. Once the tests succeeded, Lin Ze could begin advancing to the Rinnegan.

Kabuto paused, then asked:
"Where are you going next, Lin Ze?"
"The Land of Water."
A gleam flashed through Lin Ze's eyes:
"The Three-Tails has been reborn. I'm going to borrow something from it."
Although the "Black Tortoise" was not sufficiently acclimated, now that he had mastered sage techniques, obtaining some chakra from the Three-Tails should not be a problem.
