Rossi agreed to let the Straw Hat Pirates accompany him toward Dressrosa, where hostile forces had gathered. After departing Water 7 by Sea Train with the modified Black Cat in tow, they passed a Marine inspection and entered a tunnel through the Red Line toward the New World.
The Straw Hat crew crossed the Red Line by Sea Train and set out for Dressrosa, unaware that a massive war was already raging there. Doflamingo faced Kaido, Charlotte Linlin, and two members of the Five Elders as the battle intensified.
A coalition attacked Dressrosa, where the Donquixote Family and its allies fought back amid a naval assault and battles across the island. Luffy’s crew arrived to help, while a streak of lightning raced toward the clash in the sky.
Rossi, controlling Luffy’s body, fought Big Mom and seized Zeus, then joined him to Luffy as armor and a lightning blade. He rushed Kaido and called for a switch, leaving Luffy’s body swelling under the strain of the attack.
Rossi revealed himself while fighting Kaido, but the enemy forces withdrew after securing their objective. The Family discovered that Tieshidaino had been killed, and Gary’s response suggested she did not know the Doctor had died—or that he had created her.
Dr. Tieshidaino revealed that he could reconstruct himself after death, and Enel and the others prepared the Black Cat for a journey into space to retrieve Rossi. As the crew set off, Kaido’s forces learned that Zeus had fallen into their enemies’ hands.
The World Power Center and Kaido’s forces agreed to destroy the Donquixote Family while preparing to block the Navy and the rebel army. Meanwhile, Luffy’s crew flew beyond the atmosphere to the moon, where Rossi led them toward the buried city of the Great Kingdom.
Enel’s priestly bloodline activated the dormant city of Birka on the moon, and the Straw Hat Pirates continued their journey aboard the Black Cat toward the sun to rescue Rossi. As the ship turned back near the sun, Rossi revived from his eight-year stillness and began forcing his way out of the fireball.
Rossi escaped the Sun by riding a solar flare and rejoined Luffy and the others aboard the Black Cat, where he recovered from his injuries. On the journey back, he sensed a ship belonging to space pirates, left to investigate, and the pirate captain was shown being told about the Black Cat.
Rossi destroyed a Space Pirates warship and left its crew and technology with Enel before the Black Cat continued toward the blue planet. In Dressrosa, Kaido’s son Yamato faced a gigantic stone colossus, while King attacked and a figure raised stone pillars to intercept his fireballs.
The Family’s forces were collapsing as Doflamingo faced the Five Elders, Big Mom, and Kaido. Rossi returned to Dressrosa, knocked Kaido into the earth with one blow, and stood unharmed after Big Mom’s fire attack as he prepared to counter.
Rossi returned from the sun and defeated the Five Elders in seconds, shifting the balance of power at Dressrosa. With Kaido’s forces fleeing and the Charlotte Family approaching, Rossi spared Charlotte Linlin and left her to reconcile with Smoothie.
After Rossi defeated the World Government coalition in Dressrosa, he reunited with Doflamingo and the battered Family, while reports of his victory stunned the Marines and Revolutionary Army. The Family prepared to confront Imu, and the outside world reconsidered its plans in the wake of Rossi’s return.
Rossi walked alone into Mary Geoise, ignored its defenses, and confronted Imu over the return of his sword, Sandai Kitetsu. In Dressrosa, the injured Straw Hat allies waited without knowing how Rossi was faring.
At Dressrosa, Luffy and Lami could not contact Rossi while he fought Imu, but X Drake insisted Rossi could not lose. Rossi and Imu clashed in Mary Geoise as the Holy Land collapsed around them, while powerful witnesses watched to see who would shape the world’s future.
Rossi confronted Imu before the gathered powers on the Red Line, catching her blade and then wielding Sandai Kitetsu in a clash that split the continent and sea. He wounded Imu and warned that next time he would cut more than her hair, but she concluded that he was not Joy Boy.
Imu unleashed a catastrophic attack that destroyed much of the Red Line, but Rossi survived and countered by cutting through her miniature world and fighting her directly. As the battle continued across the shattered continent, Imu became increasingly bloodied and appeared to welcome the violence.
Rossi defeated Imu in a final exchange of fatal blows, then understood her centuries-long wish for death and closed her eyes. Thirty days later, rulers and powers gathered amid the Red Line’s ruins to discuss the future after Imu’s rule ended, while the Family’s rise became a celebrated story.
Elizabello II attended a new world conference where nations and former enemies gathered under the Family’s rule, while Rossi explored the moon and considered the Family’s future among the stars. A message from the navy and a queen’s demand drew Rossi back from the moon, leaving the planned space expedition for later.
The Red Line bridge plan won unanimous approval, and Rossi and Gion married in the new city built across the ravine. As the couple looked toward their future together, a forgotten egg deep in the ravine began to glow.
