The weather was truly poor on the day of departure. Fine, dense threads of rain fell, veiling heaven and earth in pale gray.
After everything had been dealt with, Huo Yuhao stood in the rain, gazing at Sea God Lake. He did not feel the rain had come at a bad time at all. Instead, he felt a refreshing pleasure, as though it were washing away all his weariness.
Suddenly, the cool sensation vanished from above his head, leaving only the soft patter of rain against an umbrella.
"What are you standing in the rain for? You'll have to change your clothes afterward."
Huo Yuhao paused slightly and turned, discovering that Wang Dong was already standing behind him.
Despite her words, Wang Dong quietly tilted the umbrella toward Huo Yuhao, leaving scattered raindrops clinging even to her pink-and-blue hair.
"Wang Dong? Don't you still have class?"
At that, Wang Dong averted her gaze, a trace of awkwardness in her voice. "You're leaving today. Can't I come see you off? Missing a class or two won't hurt me."
"And I'm here too."
As soon as those words fell, Xiao Xiao emerged from behind a nearby tree and hurried over to them.
"Xiao Xiao, you too?"
Xiao Xiao lifted her face, her eyes curving into crescents. "Of course. Aren't we a team?"
"Yes, a team."
Hearing Xiao Xiao say that, Huo Yuhao nodded with a broad smile.
After giving Xiao Xiao a mischievous look, Wang Dong said, "Let's go sit by the lake. It's not every day we get to slack off, and I haven't had your grilled fish in ages."
Huo Yuhao stole a glance at Wang Dong. "You haven't had grilled fish, but don't I usually cook for you anyway?"
