"What do you mean, you were teaching yourself medicine, and the child only had joint pain, but you stuck needles in him and left him half-paralyzed?"
Huo Yuhao felt like crying but had no tears. He had only opened the doors a short while ago that morning when he saw two people running over, carrying a child.
He would never have known without asking, and the answer gave him a fright.
The child had simply been more active lately, leaving his whole leg a little sore, so they had wanted to find a Medical Clinic to have it checked.
Then the parent took a look and thought, well now, they just happened to be teaching themselves acupuncture lately. They could handle it themselves, with no need to waste money at all.
Finally, through their painstaking research, they had successfully paralyzed the child with just a few needles. From another angle, that counted as genius, too.
Day after day, what even was all this?
"Don't go sticking needles in people at random again. If you want to learn, you can find a Medical Clinic that offers training."
"Yes, yes, you're absolutely right..."
Huo Yuhao had just seen them off when a boy with a thin, narrow face and short yellow hair walked in.
"Hello, is something wrong?"
Huo Yuhao narrowed his eyes and looked at the person before him. As far as his current perception could tell, this person did not seem to be ill.
"I've run into some trouble lately, and things got messed up. Now my heart hurts, and I have a headache. Doctor, can you treat that?"
"Sorry, I can't treat psychological problems."
Huo Yuhao heard the malice filling the other person's words and felt that he was no easy customer.
Though he did not know why the other person was acting this way, it was best not to engage with him.
"Don't be like that, Doctor. Isn't your Medical Clinic called 'Cures All Illnesses'?"
Chen Wen refused to let it go. Today, he was going to see just what this doctor, who was even younger than him, was capable of.
"'Every' is an approximation. I just happen to know a little. Please seek someone more qualified, patient."
"Are you really not going to examine me today?"
"What if I do, and what if I don't? You should see a psychologist, patient. Please stop making things difficult for me."
Huo Yuhao examined the fabric of the other person's clothes. It did not look like something an ordinary person could afford.
And coming to him with this sort of problem-could he have gotten in the way of the other person's business?
Did he run a Medical Clinic, too?
"Fine, you said it yourself. Just you watch!"
With that, Chen Wen slammed the door and left.
"Wait!"
Huo Yuhao suddenly called Chen Wen back.
"What? Scared now? It's too late, unless you get on your knees-"
"No, you broke the door. Pay for the repairs."
Huo Yuhao interrupted Chen Wen, then pointed at the door.
Chen Wen: "..."
Seething with anger, Chen Wen paced back and forth at the entrance to a dark alley by the street.
He had not wanted to go to such extremes originally. He had wanted to try other ways of messing with this Doctor Huo.
Earlier, for the sake of Xu Sanshi's Martial Soul Evolution, Chen Wen had found another girl. Though she could not compare to Jiang Nannan, she at least had her merits, and the two sides had successfully reached an agreement.
Chen Wen had more or less completed his task, only for Xu Sanshi to enter the wrong room at the very last moment, causing his Martial Soul Evolution to fail.
Who could he possibly appeal to for justice? He could hardly blame Xu Sanshi.
So Chen Wen decided to vent all his anger on Huo Yuhao.
Yet back at the Medical Clinic, Huo Yuhao had retorted until he was speechless, and had even demanded money for the door repairs in the end. He had lost every scrap of face, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he grew.
At a mysterious establishment, Chen Wen sought out several Soul Grandmasters around rank twenty and one Soul Elder a little over rank thirty.
These Soul Masters generally had mediocre Martial Souls and low innate ranks. They came from ordinary families and had almost no cultivation resources.
Even working themselves to the bone, they had barely managed to cultivate to this level.
Even so, there was still a world of difference between them and ordinary people. No matter how useless a Soul Master was, they were still a Soul Master, beyond what ordinary people could match.
With these people, and their experience taking jobs, dealing with that little brat and Jiang Nannan would be more than easy enough.
"Ambush them on the little path leading from the woods into the city. Knock them out and bring them straight to me. These Gold Soul Coins will be your payment afterward."
With that, Chen Wen displayed the money pouch in his hand.
"Heh heh heh, such a fine job. You're truly generous, sir. Rest assured, we'll complete the task."
They normally risked their lives for a little money, yet this time they only had to deal with two children. These rich people really were enviable.
They had heard that Jiang Nannan was a Shrek student, but there were so many of them, and Lu Renjia himself was already rank thirty. He did not believe they would be unable to handle these two inexperienced children.
With that settled, they disguised themselves, changed into black robes, and left.
"Boss, could there be a catch? Why is this job worth so much?"
"What do you know? This is what they call the whims of the rich. If I were him, I'd order at least five at once!"
"..."
The sun sank, and light and shadow interlaced through the woods.
Meanwhile, Huo Yuhao and Jiang Nannan were returning to the Medical Clinic side by side along the path.
Having just finished cultivating, both were still relaxed.
Suddenly, Huo Yuhao sensed several people crouching in the trees a short distance ahead. Their targets seemed to be the two of them.
"Nan Nan, watch out! There are people in the trees ahead!"
Hearing this, Jiang Nannan immediately stopped and went on alert.
Why would anyone target her and Yuhao? Could it be the black-robed people from before?
Damn it, she had dragged little Yuhao into this again. These people deserved to die!
"Let's fall back to the clearing first. This is a bad position, Yuhao."
"Okay."
In an instant, the two turned and ran.
"How did they sense us? Hurry, after them! Don't let the money get away!"
Lu Renjia roared, and the others followed him in pursuit.
In the clearing, Huo Yuhao and Jiang Nannan stood back to back, surrounded by five people.
"Number Five and I will handle Jiang Nannan. The rest of you, grab the other one and use him to threaten her!"
"Okay."
One person's Martial Soul lit up-a sickle. He charged straight at them and slashed between the two, trying to split the battlefield.
Jiang Nannan reacted extremely quickly. Pale golden light appeared in an instant as she activated her Soft Bone Rabbit Martial Soul Possession.
Her first Soul Ring lit up!
"First Soul Skill, Waist Bow!"
Jiang Nannan abruptly arched her body and sprang into the air, landing a precise kick on the chest of the first Soul Grandmaster to rush her.
With a bang, the Soul Master had no time to defend himself. With a muffled grunt, he flew backward and slammed heavily into a tree trunk, blood spilling from his mouth.
"She's that strong? Let's attack together!"
Wolf claws instantly sprouted from the bones of Lu Renjia's hands, gray Soul Power coiling around them as he lunged straight at Jiang Nannan.
Seeing this, Jiang Nannan stepped back to evade him, and the two squared off.
Elsewhere.
"Everyone, move aside. Watch me."
A rusty sword appeared in Xiao Chou's hand. Soul Power gathered, and a reddish-brown streak of sword energy shot toward Huo Yuhao.
Though it was called sword energy, that was not entirely what it was. Through his own development, Xiao Chou had discovered that if his sword cut someone, simply bandaging the wound would leave them in constant agony.
So he coated his Soul Skill in rust. As long as this move hit, he was one hundred percent certain to defeat an opponent of the same rank, let alone a child.
Seeing this, Huo Yuhao smiled faintly and promptly drew a dagger.
