Chapter Summaries

Konan and Nagato betrayed Obito, but Obito survived Konan’s attack and continued fighting the Five Kage. The chapter ended with Obito abducting Ōnoki and taunting the remaining Kage.

• Konan stabbed Obito in the heart, explaining that she and Nagato had opposed his plan to trap the world in a genjutsu and wanted their child to live in reality.

Shizune learned that the Akatsuki had gained powerful reinforcements and mobilized Konoha’s entire population, including Xia Yu’s young children, for the war. Just as she prepared to send them out, she heard that Xia Yu had returned with a woman who looked like Orochimaru.

• Shizune received reports that six Rinnegan users, a masked Uchiha, and a giant beast had joined the Akatsuki, and learned that Tsunade ordered every ninja to join the battlefield.
• Shizune, unable to find Xia Yu, decided out of anger to send his children into battle as well.
• At Hokage Plaza, Shizune rallied Konoha’s gathered ninjas, including four-year-old children, and ordered them to move out under the Sensor Ninjas’ guidance.
• A Chunin told Shizune that Xia Yu had returned to the village with a woman who looked remarkably like Orochimaru.

Obito revealed that he had survived by using Izanagi, then Black Zetsu seized control of Nagato's body. Black Zetsu used Rinne Rebirth to begin reviving his lord.

• Obito revived after sacrificing a Sharingan with Izanagi, shocking Konan, Nagato, and the Kage.
• Obito warned Konan and Nagato that he knew their objective and called on Black Zetsu.

Black Zetsu used Nagato to revive Madara Uchiha, who learned that Obito had gathered the tailed beasts and was preparing to take control. As Madara set out, White Zetsu told him that Uchiha Xia Yu had fathered thousands of Uchiha children and married Hokage Tsunade.

• Black Zetsu used Nagato's chakra to perform Rinne Rebirth and revive Madara, revealing that the masked man who had called himself Madara was someone else.

Madara Uchiha learned about Xia Yu’s enormous family and dismissed it as irrelevant to his goal of activating Infinite Tsukuyomi. At the battlefield, Obito revealed the resurrected Ten-Tails, and Tsunade and Mei Terumi mistook Madara for their hoped-for rescuer.

• Madara Uchiha asked White Zetsu about Xia Yu’s age and learned that Xia Yu had thousands of partners and children.
• Madara Uchiha reaffirmed that his only goal was to activate Infinite Tsukuyomi and went to find Obito.
• At the border of the Land of Whirlpools' ruins, Obito removed the Uchiha Flame Formation after the Ten-Tails’ resurrection succeeded.

Madara reclaimed his Rinnegan and used the Ten-Tails to unleash a spreading forest of chakra-draining vines against the Allied Shinobi Forces. As the vines devastated the battlefield, reinforcements from Konoha, the Land of Earth, and the Land of Lightning encountered the advancing flood of trees and were warned to flee.

• Black Zetsu brought Madara his Rinnegan, which he implanted after Nagato was left to die.

• Xia Yu told Shizune that he and Orochimaru had found the Funato Clan's hidden women, while Orochimaru rejected his claim that she was his sister-in-law.
