For a while afterward, an inexplicable calm settled over Inazuma City. Every faction went about its own duties, seemingly staying out of one another's way. In reality, though, everyone knew this was merely the calm before the storm.
The Tenryou Commission continued its sweeping confiscation of Visions across Narukami Island as usual, but came up empty-handed every time. The Vision Hunt Decree had been in effect for so long, and there were only so many Vision holders. Those whose Visions could be confiscated had long since lost them, while those beyond their reach all had status and connections.
Would anyone dare storm the Grand Narukami Shrine or the Yashiro Commission's estate and confiscate the Visions of that pink-haired, sly fox, the bubble tea guy, and the well-bred turtle lady? That simply wasn't realistic.
The Tenryou Commission's soldiers patrolled and inspected Inazuma City every day, hoping to find anyone who had acquired a Vision within the past year. But their chances were no better than winning the lottery.
Just as these soldiers were getting chewed out by their superiors every day for coming back empty-handed, a certain blond fellow serving the Yashiro Commission's Kamisato Clan actually strolled brazenly into the Commission Office. He greeted the colleagues he knew with easy familiarity and, in passing, casually probed them about some ceremony.
His colleagues at the Commission Office hadn't thought much of it at first, but the gleaming Pyro element Vision on his person made their breathing grow heavier without them realizing it, as though they had spotted a peerless beauty.
They exchanged glances. Wasn't this Thoma fellow just a household servant of the Yashiro Commission? Wouldn't arresting him mean their mission was complete?
*Damn it! I wouldn't dare arrest the Yashiro Commission's clan head or princess, but am I really too scared
