Was this something they were supposed to hear?
Everyone else present was stunned by the conversation.
But the two men speaking had eyes only for each other.
"Weren't you the one who said that?" Ye Yizhou tipped his head up and gave a little huff.
"I was wrong. I said it, and I admit I was putting on too much of an act back then." Yan Qingdu admitted his mistake without the slightest hesitation.
He really had just been stubborn back then, suffering for the sake of his pride.
As Yan Qingdu spoke, he reached for Ye Yizhou's hand, admitting his mistake and almost seeming to wheedle him.
Ye Yizhou gave Yan Qingdu a coy, reproachful look and patted the empty seat beside him. "Have you eaten?"
Yan Qingdu walked around the chair and sat in the empty seat beside Ye Yizhou. "Not yet."
There was a clean, unused set of tableware at the empty place.
Ye Yizhou placed a piece of pork rib in Yan Qingdu's bowl. "This is good. Try it."
Yan Qingdu picked up the rib, took a bite, and tasted it carefully before nodding slightly. "A little sweet."
"No taste."
Ye Yizhou disparaged his taste, but put some vegetables in his bowl anyway. "Have some vegetables. These aren't sweet."
Yan Qingdu didn't argue and obediently ate the vegetables in his bowl.
The atmosphere between them was natural and harmonious, yet hard for anyone else to enter, as though they were the only two people left in the venue.
Their interactions were perfectly ordinary, with nothing particularly intimate about their gestures, yet they gave off such a comfortable, sweet feeling.
"President Yan, I spoke without thinking just now. Please don't be angry!"
Liu Jiangzhou came over with a drink, apologizing as he offered Yan Qingdu a toast.
