Jian Ran looked down at the patient he had kicked to the ground, his eyes narrowing and his lips curling into a wicked smile. "Mental illness at such a young age?"
"Why don't I believe you?"
"Are you trying to fool me?"
As he spoke, he raised his fist to strike. The young man hurriedly shielded his head. "Good sir, wait!"
"I got sick because I failed my college entrance exams, and my girlfriend ran off with my best buddy."
"The parents who raised me for twenty years weren't my biological parents."
"Constant insomnia even made me go bald early!"
Jian Ran withdrew his fist. "With a life like that, not developing a mental illness would be doing the words 'ill-fated' a disservice."
"What's your name?"
"108." The young patient blinked.
Jian Ran frowned. "All the patients here use numbers as code names? Not your real names?"
108 nodded obediently. "The nurse said hearing our real names could trigger an episode, so everyone uses numbers instead."
"How is that any different from prison?" Jian Ran blurted out.
108 smiled, looking both innocent and goofy. "It isn't."
"Then you probably wouldn't know a woman named Yun Ying either." Jian Ran spoke casually, but 108's eyes widened. "You mean Aunt Yun?"
"You know..." Quite surprised, Jian Ran was about to ask more when a roar came from the distance.
"108, what are you doing?! Get back to your room!"
Jian Ran raised his head and looked toward the voice, spotting that burly, powerfully built nurse again.
108 was clearly terrified of her. He scrambled up from the ground, gave Jian Ran a long look, then turned and ran.
