Background / History
Family and entry into entertainment
Wen Liangtian comes from the wealthy Wen family, where competition over inheritance is fierce. He initially believes his father supports his entertainment career and wants to prove that he is not useless. His stepmother repeatedly belittles his abilities in front of his father, interferes with his relationships, and tries to push him toward older men rather than the handsome men he prefers 20 48.
His family and agency cultivate a sweet, delicate, innocent public image for him. Chu Xinghui suspects that this arrangement is intended to attract wealthy marriage prospects while removing Wen Liangtian from competition for the family fortune; Wen Liangtian himself does not initially suspect his father 45 48.
Early appearances on *Let’s Travel Together*
The agency sends Chu Xinghui onto Let’s Travel Together to help promote Wen Liangtian. Their assigned roles are deliberately antagonistic: Chu is supposed to act like a vicious senior colleague who monopolizes resources, making Wen appear mistreated. Wen privately dislikes his own “innocent little flower” persona and declines to act deeply wronged when Chu performs his part 4 8.
Wen initially dislikes Chu because Gong Wenxuan, whom the boss sent to befriend him, has fed him negative stories about Chu. He also tries to seduce Pei Hanmo, hoping to prove his worth to his father. Pei rejects his attempt to arrange shared accommodation, although Wen initially misreads the rejection as encouragement to improve his ranking 7 19 48.
His opinion of Chu improves after spending time with him. He asks Chu to teach him cooking and becomes concerned that Pei is sexually harassing or exploiting him. After Chu suffers a hyperventilation attack, Wen follows him back to the accommodation to check on his safety 10 11 12.
Supporting Lan Xiangxian
Wen stays in contact with Lan Xiangxian after filming and frequently takes him out. During the Ancient Town episode, he offers Lan refuge from their difficult roommate, Wan Linqing, and teams up with him to prevent her from bullying him. Their closeness attracts viewers who pair them romantically and provokes Gu Chupei’s jealousy 36 40.
When Wan’s scheme triggers Pei Hanmo’s heat, Wen recognizes that something is wrong, helps force open the room, and fetches Chu Xinghui. Pei later offers to help him compete for the Wen family’s assets in exchange for looking after Lan. Although Wen originally has little interest in the inheritance, protecting Lan gives him a reason to pursue it 41 44 48.
Wen and Chu warn Lan that Gu Chupei’s first love is returning and offer to help him leave Gu’s home. They then learn that Gu is using Lan’s mother’s treatment to keep him dependent. After accompanying Lan to the airport, Wen physically shields him from Gu’s anger and initially keeps the returning Xi Qingyan at a distance 50 52 53.
Relationship with Shi Xinyu
During the seaside episode, Wen accidentally discovers Shi Xinyu buried in the sand and immediately calls him his sworn enemy. Their hostility predates the show: Shi repeatedly disrupted Wen’s attempts to date other men. Finding the new guest means Wen must share a room with him, despite both loudly protesting 73 74 75.
A drinking contest leads to the two sleeping together. Wen is sore and furious the following morning, recalling that Shi did not stop even when he cried. Shi apologizes and promises to speak to Wen’s father and take responsibility 76 79 80.
Wen later explains that he is struggling to accept sleeping with someone who had repeatedly sabotaged his dates. Nevertheless, he objects when Chu calls Shi ugly, and eventually pulls Shi away by the ear to speak privately. By the end of the episode, they leave in the same car; Shi’s powerful family backing is described as removing Wen’s worries about his position in the Wen family 88 93.
By the wedding chapter, Wen and Shi are explicitly dating. Their argumentative dynamic remains intact as they work together to repair the bouquet for the bridal toss 117.
Appearance
Wen’s appearance contrasts sharply with the innocent image promoted by his family and agency 45 48.
- Rabbit ears: His ears emerge when he becomes agitated around Shi Xinyu. They stand upright during their first confrontation and later droop beside his head 73 74.
- Off-camera style: He visits Chu in black punk-style clothing and small black sunglasses 48.
- On-camera image: Viewers initially describe him as a cute, angelic “little sweetheart” 7 15 45.
Personality
Wen is proud, competitive, and quick to protest, but often expresses affection through actions rather than words. Chu describes him as ambitious beneath a prickly exterior, with enough obliviousness and confidence to make him easy to manipulate. Wen’s early trust in company gossip and his misreading of Pei’s rejection demonstrate that vulnerability 7 11 19.
His abrasiveness conceals a protective streak. He checks on Chu after his collapse, offers Lan somewhere safe to sleep, and places himself between Lan and people he considers threatening. Embarrassment often follows displays of affection: after Chu thanks him and ruffles his hair, Wen blushes and insists on cooking lessons instead 12 36 53.
Unlike his public persona, Wen enjoys bars and actively pursues men he finds attractive, though he avoids people who are already taken. He vehemently denies being a tsundere when Chu suggests that fans might prefer his real personality. Later, viewers enthusiastically accept his more outspoken behavior 45 89.
