After their meal, the two slowly walked back along the streets of the Old City District.
Before they knew it, they had wandered into a small park. Jiangcheng had just suffered a catastrophe, and there were not many pedestrians on the streets, but people were already doing their morning exercises in the park.
Several elderly people chatted beneath a pavilion, and a stray cat lay sunning itself on a stone bench. Everything was as it always had been, as though yesterday's disaster, which had dragged the entire city into a nightmare, were merely the memory of a dream.
Su Qianxue walked half a step behind Lin Jin, watching his back, though she had seen it so many times before.
Whenever she found herself in a desperate situation, that figure would appear before her, but after today, she would never see it again.

"Don't turn around." Her muffled voice came from behind him, trembling faintly. "If you do, I'm afraid I won't have the courage to say it."
