Bieshu Feifan froze at the sight of the mass of Sunagakure ninja the Third Kazekage had personally brought.
He had gotten too absorbed in the looting and let his guard down.
The other bandits froze too. Hadn't Sunagakure fallen out with the daimyō?
Why had they all mobilized?
A phrase instantly popped into Bieshu Feifan's mind.
Entrapment.
He had never imagined that one day, he, Bieshu Feifan, would be entrapped by the natives of the shinobi world.
Looking again at the Sunagakure shinobi who had disguised themselves as bandits earlier, he saw that they had already taken their treasure and quietly blended into Sunagakure's main force.
He couldn't win this fight.
Never mind the Third Kazekage; the sheer number of shinobi Sunagakure had brought made Bieshu Feifan nervous.
Strong as he was, he was still flesh and blood. A kunai through his body could kill him just the same.
Most importantly, the Third Kazekage was known as the strongest Kazekage in history.
Bieshu Feifan was a little scared.
"Run!"
Someone shouted, and the bandits instantly scattered in all directions.
The Third Kazekage didn't attack right away. Instead, he issued loud orders.
"Shinobi on the left flank, protect the daimyō and the nobles. Don't let them run out and get into danger.
Everyone else, follow me and recover the nobles' wealth."
And so, while preventing the nobles from organizing their household servants to recover their property, the Sunagakure shinobi eyed the bandits laden with money pouches, their eyes gleaming.
Bieshu Feifan blended into the crowd, looking utterly ordinary.
"Kill!"
"Money!"
Driven mad by poverty, the Sand Ninja's eyes blazed at the sight of the gold, silver, and treasures carried by the bandits who had robbed the nobles.
All of this was funding for their Sunagakure.
