Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Academy student with ordinary genin potential | 1 | After three years of schooling, cannot properly perform the Clone or Transformation Techniques; his Substitution Technique takes roughly half a minute. |
| Early graduation to genin | 2 | Forcibly graduated during the Second Shinobi World War despite his inadequate skills. |
| Byakugan ocular power acquired | 4 8 | Absorbs Hyūga Shupi’s ocular chakra through direct contact; subsequently uses the Byakugan to scout approaching enemies. |
| Sharingan ocular power acquired | 12 | Drains the unconscious Uchiha Kun’s eyes, gaining chakra that immediately integrates with his body and gravitates toward his eyes. Kun dies during the absorption. |
| Byakugan range exceeds one thousand meters | 14 | Further collection of ocular power increases his observation range by almost half. |
| Senju Sage Body remnant acquired | 28 | Absorbs special chakra from a corpse in Konoha’s morgue, improving his constitution rather than primarily strengthening his eyes. |
| Senju chakra fully integrated | 29 | Gains enough physical strength and chakra to consider himself a proper genin; finally produces a small flame with Fire Release. |
| Fire and Wind affinities identified | 30 | Chakra Paper supplied by Hiruzen confirms both natures. |
| Basic genin repertoire established | 38 39 | More or less masters the Three Basic Jutsu, alongside two Fire Release techniques, Wind Release, and basic genjutsu. His hypnosis develops to incapacitating several ordinary people with a glance. |
| Magnet Release awakened | 43 | Integrates chakra previously absorbed from Itadori Daiji and moves a kitchen knife without touching it. Initial reserves are too small for practical combat. |
| Combat-capable Magnet Release | 58 | Reverses incoming kunai, flies in Fine Steel Armor, and attacks with controlled steel needles. |
| Additional Sharingan power absorbed | 72 | Kills Uchiha Beidai and absorbs his two-tomoe Sharingan’s ocular power. |
| Multiple Shadow Clone Technique mastered | 83 84 | Uses his enormous chakra reserves to train through a dozen or so clones simultaneously. Wood Release is also incorporated into his armor. |
| Scorch Release integrated | 94 | Produces heat orbs capable of drying out a muddy pool, filling a gap in his close- to medium-range offensive arsenal. |
| Shikotsumyaku acquired | 127 | Absorbs two Kaguya clansmen’s special chakra, gaining their bone-manipulation ability and strengthening his body. |
| Shikotsumyaku fully integrated | 131 | Completes several days of refinement; clone testing shows greater defensive endurance than his Wood or Magnet Release at equal chakra expenditure. |
| Senjutsu chakra created | 173 | Uses his Innate Divine Ability to absorb natural energy, combines it with physical and spiritual energy, and integrates the resulting senjutsu chakra. |
| Natural energy sensed without toad oil | 178 | Can sense natural energy independently while continuing senjutsu training. |
| Jōnin promotion | 227 230 232 | Initially rejected before an ability assessment; later undertakes a final promotion mission and is confirmed to have become a jōnin. |
| Senjutsu mastered | 232 | Several years of training culminate in mastery of senjutsu. |
| Monstrous Strength demonstrated | 239 | Tsunade recognizes her technique when his punch blasts a deep crater into the ground. |
Background / History
Reincarnation and Forced Graduation
Bieshu Feifan reincarnated into the shinobi world at birth, retaining his memories of Earth and the main plot of Naruto. Previously a pig butcher, he possessed neither exceptional ninja talent nor an immediately usable advantage beyond his Innate Divine Ability. Difficulty learning the local language delayed his speech until age four, causing others to suspect an intellectual disability and leaving him with almost no childhood friends 1 2 30.
At seven, he tried to remain in the Ninja Academy until the Second Shinobi World War ended. His poor grades were genuine, but he also deliberately presented himself as unintelligent to avoid conscription. Konoha nevertheless graduated him early and assigned him to a supply convoy 1 2.
The Land of Rain Battlefield
During a Sunagakure ambush, Feifan used teammate Maoxu Ang as a human shield and avoided direct fighting by throwing stones. When the badly wounded Hyūga Shupi returned, Feifan absorbed his Byakugan chakra and strangled him, publicly mourning while privately celebrating the gain 3 4.
He later developed a survival partnership with Shimura Daio and coveted Uchiha Kun’s Sharingan. After Kun became unconscious on the battlefield, Feifan carried him away and drained his ocular chakra, inadvertently exhausting the chakra keeping him alive 6 10 12.
An Aburame chūnin subsequently confronted Feifan as a deserter and severely wounded his right shoulder. After returning to Konoha, Feifan began taking training more seriously, recognizing that even the Three Basic Jutsu were essential to survival 21 24.
Konoha Training and the Uchiha Feud
Uchiha harassment escalated after two boys attacked Feifan and destroyed his home with a Great Fireball. He sought compensation through Hiruzen Sarutobi, whom he insistently called his elder brother, while rebuilding his house and training with Might Duy 24 26 27.
Hospital work gave him access to corpses containing residual special chakra. Absorbing a faint remnant of Senju Sage Body chakra finally improved his weak constitution, but Uchiha Ji’s subsequent genjutsu attack demonstrated how far he remained below experienced opponents 28 29 30.
Feifan increasingly financed his development through hypnosis and theft. He compelled wealthy households to treat him as family, obtained money and technique scrolls, and eventually subdued a bandit group under the identity Uchiha Yellow Weasel 38 39 59.
Bloodline Hunting Abroad
Feifan pursued additional bloodline abilities while operating under disguises. He refined Itadori Daiji’s chakra into Magnet Release, later demonstrated Scorch Release, and used wood clones to divert most of the valuables Sunagakure recovered after fighting in the Land of Wind’s capital 43 94 96.
In the Land of Water, he hypnotized the daimyō and arranged for more than two hundred fugitive shinobi to enter his service. His plan was to attract bloodline-family envoys, drain their special chakra, and leave the Mizukage responsible for the consequences. He acquired Shikotsumyaku from two Kaguya clansmen, but the daimyō eventually allied with Kirigakure against him 126 127 128.
After further clashes with the Kaguya, Feifan learned that the Land of Water had placed a three-hundred-million bounty on Daddy Shinobi for causing the former daimyō’s death. He abandoned his immediate plans there and departed by ship 129 131 132.
Senjutsu and the Hokage Ambition
Repeated sparring with Minato Namikaze convinced Feifan that superior reserves and physical attributes suited him better than technical brilliance. He pursued Hashirama cells through Orochimaru and later traveled with Jiraiya and Minato to Mount Myōboku, where his absorption ability allowed him to create senjutsu chakra despite failing the initial conventional sensing exercise 72 74 173.
By fifteen, Feifan no longer wanted to wait for Minato’s death or the Uchiha massacre before seeking the Hokage position. He began forming a Personal Guard, trained nine team members, and pursued jōnin promotion. Although village officials initially rejected him, he eventually became a jōnin and mastered senjutsu 216 217 227 232.
He later sought Tsunade’s support for his candidacy, defeating and binding her after she refused to return to Konoha. During subsequent operations against Iwagakure, his sabotage weakened enemy forces, and Mimura Hamaki selected him as the most suitable leader for a surprise attack 239 258.
Appearance
- Initially small and physically weak: At seven, his limited strength prevents him from keeping pace with what his enhanced perception can detect 9 21.
- Concealed ocular abilities: His eyes can appear normal while he uses Sharingan perception, making the source of his abilities difficult to identify 45.
- Conspicuous clothing: Wears a green training outfit given by Might Duy and later a yellow leotard; avoids the yellow outfit on dangerous missions 27 30 230.
- Frequent disguises: Changes his face, assumes false identities, and uses a mask resembling Kakashi’s for covert operations 57 90 115.
- Physical maturation: By fifteen, he considers his body essentially fully grown and his earlier physical shortcomings resolved 216.
Personality
Feifan places survival above duty, reputation, and comradeship. As a child soldier, he hides, selects weak opponents, and makes easy fights appear difficult. This caution coexists with extreme ruthlessness: he murders or drains fellow Konoha shinobi for their bloodlines and discovers that killing enemy samurai causes him no mental or physical discomfort 3 4 11 12 41.
His apparent foolishness is partly genuine social awkwardness and partly a cultivated defense. He exaggerates his relationship with Hiruzen, invokes the Will of Fire whenever useful, and considers acting more eccentric after observing that Might Duy avoids battlefield assignments. Officials’ belief that he is intellectually disabled sometimes shields him from scrutiny, though he resents being dismissed entirely 13 27 43 51 83.
Feifan recognizes his ordinary talent and mediocre combat instincts. Rather than insisting on technical superiority, he deliberately accumulates chakra, physical strength, ocular power, and bloodline abilities to overwhelm more skilled opponents 70 74 76.
His closest friendships are more sincere than his manufactured family relationships. He values Might Duy’s genuine affection, supports Duy’s attempt at the Chūnin Exams, and regularly spends time with Duy and Guy 75 84.
Abilities & Skills
Innate Divine Ability
Feifan’s transmigration ability absorbs special chakra and allows him to refine it into his own capabilities 4 29 43.
- Contact requirement: His fingers must touch the target’s body or the relevant body part; ocular chakra is taken through contact with the eyes 4 12.
- Living and dead sources: Works on injured living shinobi and residual chakra in corpses 12 28.
- Integration: Can confer ocular powers, bodily improvements, and kekkei genkai rather than merely replenishing ordinary chakra 28 43 127.
- Lethal depletion: Draining Uchiha Kun removes the last chakra sustaining his life 12.
- Natural energy absorption: Also draws in natural energy for senjutsu training 173.
Byakugan and Sharingan
His accumulated ocular chakra supplies reconnaissance, predictive vision, copying, and genjutsu without requiring visibly identifiable Sharingan eyes 14 21 45 227.
- Byakugan reconnaissance: Observes enemies beyond one thousand meters and sees through visual obstruction such as thrown dirt 14 70.
- Dynamic perception: Anticipates attacks, reads lips, and supports one-sided combat against ordinary samurai 21 41.
- Technique copying: Copies the Third Raikage’s secret Lightning Release techniques and compiles them into a book 227.
- Perception–body mismatch: Early in his development, he can see attacks that his body is too slow to evade 21.
- Ocular resistance: Breaks Uchiha Ji’s three-tomoe genjutsu through superior ocular power, though Ji’s tactics still force him to retreat 70.
Hypnosis and Genjutsu
Feifan uses hypnosis to manufacture family ties, secure resources, and manipulate both civilians and shinobi 39 49 59 126.
- False relationships: Makes targets believe he is their father, brother, or another trusted relative 39 49 59.
- Increasing duration: Progresses from repeated nightly hypnosis to effects lasting many days on ordinary people 39 88.
- Combat interference: Uses genjutsu against messengers and investigators during his sabotage of Iwagakure 258.
- Limits: Strong personal fixations can interfere with his suggestions; one elderly merchant repeatedly refuses to accept him as a father 59.
- Countermeasures: Experienced opponents avoid eye contact, while Kirigakure shinobi adopt chakra-treated eye coverings 132 133.
Magnet Release and Composite Armor
Initially developed by moving a kitchen knife, his Magnet Release becomes a means of flight, weapon control, and protection. He models its development on Magneto rather than relying on remembered ninja techniques 43 45 58.
- Weapon reversal: Stops and redirects incoming metal weapons 58.
- Flight: Uses Magnet Release: Fly into the Sky Technique while covered in Fine Steel Armor 58.
- Scattershot: Directs large numbers of steel needles at opponents 58.
- Composite defense: Combines metal with chakra-absorbing Wood Release, using wood as a softer cushioning layer behind the metal 84.
- Genjutsu shielding: A chakra-filled transparent wooden panel blocks Fugaku’s genjutsu 84.
- Repair: His armor repairs damage inflicted by the Third Kazekage’s iron sand 233.
Wood Release
Wood Release supports Feifan’s disguises, defenses, and restraint techniques 84 96 239.
- Wood clones: Replace transport workers, maintain an apparent presence at an outpost, and draw enemy attacks 96 115 196.
- Restraint: Binds and weakens Tsunade 239.
- Reinforced traps: Uses armored Wood Clones to restrain the Third Raikage’s arms, although the Raikage breaks free 196.
Elemental Ninjutsu
Feifan compensates for limited finesse with large reserves, repeated attacks, and concentrated chakra 74 87 196.
- Fire Release: Uses Great Fireball and Phoenix Flower. His output grows enough to contest eight Uchiha’s combined Great Fireballs almost evenly 38 120.
- Wind Release: Uses Great Breakthrough, Vacuum Sphere, wind blades, and chakra-charged leaves 38 112 120 207.
- Wind Release: Power of Numbers: Compresses wind chakra repeatedly into a concentrated attack, developed with Susanoo’s defenses in mind and first used against the Third Raikage 196.
- Wind Release: Storm Nebula Rift: Produces a spectacular aerial wind-blade explosion; has little practical value but impresses Academy graduates 215.
Additional Bloodline Abilities
- Scorch Release: Creates orbs that rapidly remove moisture. Particularly lethal at close to medium range, but limited in reach 94.
- Shikotsumyaku: Manipulates bone and offers highly efficient defense. Feifan prefers testing it through clones because bone emergence is painful and he fears possible infection; that fear is his own theory, not an established consequence 127 131.
- Transparent Release: Uses it to conceal his real body while a Wood Clone fights the Kaguya 132.
Physical Combat
Senju chakra and continued training transform Feifan’s initially frail body into a major source of offensive power 28 29 171.
- Raw strength and speed: Physically overwhelms Minato during an exchange despite lacking comparable technique 171.
- Supersonic pursuit: Catches the fleeing Third Kazekage and strikes through his Iron Sand Shield 233.
- Shaori: Redirects Tsunade’s attacks 239.
- Monstrous Strength: Delivers crater-forming punches recognized by Tsunade 239.
- Technical vulnerability: Skilled opponents can exploit his timing and combat habits even when his chakra and strength are superior 70 74.
Senjutsu and Clone Training
Feifan uses absorption to establish senjutsu chakra, then continues conventional practice until he can independently sense natural energy and eventually masters senjutsu 173 178 232.
- Parallel training: Uses Multiple Shadow Clones to practice different ninjutsu simultaneously 84.
- Remote operations: Sends clones to contact Orochimaru and monitor the Third Kazekage’s movements 72 232.
- Combat deception: Conceals his real body among clones and uses substitutes to survive apparently decisive attacks 196 207.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Kunai and improvised spears: Begins with scavenged, nearly unusable kunai; ties a blade to a straight branch to compensate for his limited reach 3 7 14.
- Steel needles and metal weapons: Ammunition for Magnet Release attacks and weapon redirection 58 70.
- Composite armor: Combines Magnet Release and Wood Release for protection, cushioning, and chakra absorption 84.
- Wooden earpiece: Secretly feeds Might Duy answers during a Chūnin written examination 177.
- Copied Lightning Release book: Preserves techniques copied from the Third Raikage’s secrets 227.
- Stolen wealth: Accumulates money, jewelry, gold, and other valuables to fund his activities; buries an enormous haul in the Land of Wind’s desert 70 96.
Relationships
