"All right, my story can wait. Now-let the ritual begin!"
Tianmeng's voice abruptly rose, and all ten golden patterns burst with dazzling light at once. The temperature throughout the woods plummeted again.
"Haven't you heard that heaven never cuts off every path! As long as I, Tianmeng, want to go, the road lies beneath my feet!"
"You stupid, bastard, idiotic beasts in the Great Star Dou Forest, lusting after my beautiful body-don't even think about catching me again! Once my god-making plan succeeds, just watch how I whip you into shape-"
She shouted as she lunged toward Huo Yutong with all her strength, but the moment she touched Huo Yutong...
Tianmeng's expression went very wrong. Although she had known Huo Yutong was weak...
She hadn't expected it to be to this extent, had she?
Damn it! Isn't this body far too frail?!
Can she still not withstand it?
O boundless heavens, why do you treat me so cruelly!
Sigh~ Forget it, forget it. Nobody has it easy.
I don't have time to find another spiritual-type soul master now.
At that moment, Tianmeng's mood was like riding a roller coaster, but-going all in was a kind of wisdom!
It mustered all its strength and plunged headfirst into Huo Yutong's spiritual sea.
It roared, "Even burdened with the talent of a twelve-year-old rank-ten soul scholar, even with one hand holding up the spiritual sea, I, the Tianmeng Ice Silkworm, remain invincible beneath the heavens-fuse with me! My host!"
Tianmeng's body turned into a streak of light and hurtled toward the space between Huo Yutong's brows.
Just as it was about to merge into Huo Yutong's spiritual sea-
A black consciousness descended from the horizon.
When that will descended, heaven and earth changed color.
The once-bright daylight abruptly darkened, as though someone had smeared ink across the entire sky. Everything around them was shrouded in bottomless shadow.
The wind stopped, the insects fell silent, and even the air seemed to freeze.
That figure emerged from the shadows.
Her long, curly hair was silvery white with a sheen of cold gold, its strands flowing like moonlight.
Yet the ends were steeped in a faint gray, like kiss marks the night had left upon her white hair.
Her skin was so pale it was almost translucent, revealing the faint blue veins beneath.
Yet she looked not the slightest bit sickly. Instead, she possessed a cold beauty that did not belong to the mortal world.
Her brows and eyes were cool and sharp, not the sort of delicate features that invited pity.
A hundred years of loneliness seemed to weigh upon her brow.
She was a goddess of the night, melancholy to the extreme!
Her eyes seemed to hold strange hues, clear as the light of dawn and deep as an abyss of the undead.
Like night and dawn overlapping in the same instant.
She wore gray-white robes. Their simple fabric took on an extraordinary dignity upon her, and the robes fluttered gently in the wind.
That peerless beauty made even this shadow-shrouded world seem a little dimmer.
A cool, ethereal female voice rang out-
"With sun and moon in hand, I pluck the stars; none in this world is my equal."
The Tianmeng Ice Silkworm had only just squeezed half its body through the entrance to Huo Yutong's spiritual sea.
Hearing those words, it abruptly slammed on the brakes. It looked back, instantly entered Spinosaurus mode, and launched a hissing attack at her.
"Damn it! You dare fight your big sister Tianmeng over someone? You've got some plump little guts! Watch me kick you out with my thunderous, swaggering foot! Hiyah-!!!"
It wheeled around menacingly, waving its little legs, which were so short they were almost invisible.
It charged at the silver-haired figure, wearing an expression that said, "Today, I'll show you what the majesty of a million-year soul beast means."
Then-
Bang.
Tianmeng was knocked flying like a marble, tumbling through the air an unknown number of times.
Finally, it smacked flat against a tree trunk with a splat and slowly slid down.
"Are you kidding me?!" Tianmeng's beady eyes went round. The entire silkworm was dumbstruck, staring incredulously at the woman opposite, who was extraordinarily beautiful and only grew more beautiful the longer it looked.
It was a magnificent million-year soul beast, the prettiest leading lady in the Extreme North, yet some being of unknown origin had sent it flying with a casual wave?
Did that make any sense?
The figure did not even glance at it. She simply turned into a streak of light and slipped precisely between Huo Yutong's brows, flying toward the deepest reaches of her spiritual sea.
Tianmeng struggled up from beneath the tree roots, trembling with rage, its golden patterns flashing wildly. "Damn it-! I worked my tail off to build this spacious Spiritual Sea apartment, and now some rotten beggar shows up and steals center stage! What a calamity! Is there no justice?! Is there no law?!"
It pressed its two little hands to the sides of its face and leaned backward, cosplaying the world-famous painting The Scream. Its voice was as shrill as a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
After shouting, Tianmeng shrank back again, casting a lingering, fearful glance toward the space between Huo Yutong's brows.
That woman... no, that being, was terrifying beyond measure.
The instant it had approached her, it had felt an overwhelming pressure, like a mayfly beholding the heavens!
I was supposed to turn into a butterfly! How had I turned back into a squashed bug again, again, and again?!
Tianmeng hung its head, its beady eyes filled with the weariness of worldly experience.
After a long silence, she suddenly raised her head, puffed out her chest, and encouraged herself. "Hmph! I won't hold it against you! Be as strong as you please; I'm the Ice Silkworm Queen! You can have the big spiritual-sea apartment. I'll build a shack next door-let's see who outlasts whom!"
Tianmeng immediately invoked the spirit of Ah Q, pretending nothing had happened.
Then it eagerly scurried back into Huo Yutong's spiritual sea.
As soon as Huo Yutong's consciousness sank into this strange inner space, the sight before her left her slightly dazed.
This place held an indescribable stillness and ethereal quality.
Just then, Tianmeng appeared before her without warning.
The Tianmeng before her had already assumed a humanoid form, dressed in a loose white onesie that resembled pajamas.
Two floppy baby-silkworm ears hung from the hood. It was unmistakably a set of "silkworm-style" loungewear.
She had long hair as brilliant as flowing gold, draped casually over her shoulders. A sly light now twinkled in her eyes, which were as clear as azure glaciers.
Standing there, she looked exactly like a veteran shut-in spending her weekend gaming at home.
Even more impossible to comment on was her build. She was astonishingly petite, even a full size smaller than Huo Yutong herself, perfectly embodying the term "legal loli."
Yet who could have imagined that she was actually a million-year soul beast who had lived for ten thousand years, an idiot who loved sleeping and dreaming and came complete with delusions of grandeur and a screw loose?
Looking at Huo Yutong, who stood frozen before her, Tianmeng made a thoroughly affected gesture of brushing back the golden hair by her ear.
She lifted her delicate chin slightly and said in an utterly intoxicated tone, "Sigh~ Another person utterly conquered by my peerless beauty~ It can't be helped. This damned charm of mine simply has nowhere to go~"
Listening to those supremely narcissistic words, Huo Yutong could not help twitching the corner of her mouth in embarrassment.
She grumbled inwardly, her eyes full of doubt. Was this really the legendary, unprecedented million-year soul beast?
Could someone this unreliable really help me grow stronger?
