Outside the Small Courtyard, Jiang Man looked at Peak Master Bai.
He was quite concerned about what the other man had just said.
He did indeed want to meet the friends Peak Master Bai had mentioned.
He simply could not understand how Peak Master Bai could actually have friends like that.
"You want to meet them?" Peak Master Bai chuckled. "These things come down to fate. If you seek them out wanting to be their friend, that's using them, not friendship."
Jiang Man asked curiously, "Then is what you have with them friendship?"
"Of course it's friendship." Peak Master Bai looked perfectly serious. "We have a bond forged through life and death."
"They would risk their lives to save you, and you would risk yours to save them?" Jiang Man did not believe him.
Peak Master Bai chuckled. "Of course I would, but they would sternly stop me. As their good friend, I naturally have to listen.
"Of course, I speak up when they risk their lives for me too. Unfortunately, they don't listen."
Jiang Man narrowed his eyes at the man before him. "You're quite shameless."
"Didn't I tell you that right from the start?" Peak Master Bai said indifferently.
Jiang Man dropped the subject. "What did they find?"
"They traced it to a family. All we can say is that this family might be involved." Peak Master Bai looked at Jiang Man seriously. "An extremely ancient family, the Xiang Family."
Then Peak Master Bai asked curiously, "Do you have a grudge against the Xiang Family?"
Jiang Man shook his head. "No. I haven't even heard of them."
"That's strange, then. Why would they kill you for no reason?" Peak Master Bai narrowed his eyes at Jiang Man. "Do you have some other special identity?"
"Even you don't know?"
