On the eastern coast of the Chaotian Continent lay a place called Moqiu. Many, many years ago, before Fruitful Accomplishment Temple existed, there had been a thatched hut in front of the mountain, and a farmer had walked out of it.
He had spent some time as a laborer and several years as a general, comprehended the Dao on the battlefield, and become a cultivator. Then he had gone to the Thousand-Li Wind Corridor and become Sage Zeng's disciple.
After Sage Zeng ascended, he wandered the world.
Neither sorrowful nor joyful.
Neither speaking nor uttering a word.
One day, he passed the entrance to the Water-Moon Convent, saw the peach tree in bloom, and spoke a word of praise for its beauty.
Then he went to the eastern coast, watched the red sun sink into the Heavenly Access Well, and, thinking that the Netherworld still had no law, suddenly gained an understanding.
He stroked the crown of his head, shed his hair, and became a monk. Then he turned back to the thatched hut in Moqiu, which had collapsed many years before, and built a temple.
That temple was Fruitful Accomplishment Temple.
In later generations, Fruitful Accomplishment Temple enjoyed immense prestige on the Chaotian Continent.
He was the first physician monk.
He was also the founder of Chan Buddhism.
