"I'll hold it off. Get out of here!" Sun Bang forced down his injuries and rose to his feet.
"Hold it off? You can hold it off?" Xu Yan asked coldly. She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, then continued, "There's nothing we can do now. It could clearly have killed us just then. It looks like it's toying with us even as it rages!"
"Toying with us?" Huang Xiao's eyes lit up, and he suddenly said, "Could we use that to buy time?"
Naturally, Huang Xiao hoped to stall until his martial uncles arrived. Once they came, the three of them would be out of danger.
"Hopefully-" Xu Yan had meant to say she hoped so, but before she could finish, the Heavenly Yin Silkworm vanished from where it stood. Just as the three of them moved to brace themselves, Sun Bang let out a scream.
The Heavenly Yin Silkworm had pounced on him and knocked him to the ground. Then it opened its bizarre mouth and sank its teeth viciously into his neck.
"Get out of here! It-it wants my blood! Go!" Sun Bang could no longer spare any thought for himself. He understood now: the Heavenly Yin Silkworm's primary target was still him. His poisonous blood was its finest delicacy.
In the few breaths after Sun Bang finished speaking, his face turned deathly pale. Huang Xiao could clearly sense his presence weakening rapidly. In just a few more breaths, the Heavenly Yin Silkworm would probably drain him dry.
"Stop!!" Huang Xiao lifted a foot and drew the dagger Godslayer from his boot. He knew that none of their punches or kicks could possibly hurt the Heavenly Yin Silkworm, so he placed his hopes on this dagger. After all, it cut through iron like mud.
