A great secret

Huang Xiao widened his eyes and stared at Huo Lian with great curiosity.

This counted as a tremendous secret. He had considered it before, but only in passing, not daring to entertain too many thoughts about it. Now that his patriarch had brought it up, his curiosity was instantly kindled.

"A secret? May this disciple know what it is?" Huang Xiao asked.

Huang Xiao was terribly afraid that his patriarch needed to keep this matter confidential and could not tell him. That would be sheer torture.

After asking, he felt somewhat uneasy, but he was also full of anticipation, hoping his patriarch would tell him the secret behind it.

"There is no harm in telling you," Huo Lian said.

Those words sounded like heavenly music, and Huang Xiao finally let out a long inward sigh of relief.

He hardly dared breathe as he waited for his patriarch to continue.

"It was only after becoming Hall Master that this old man found these scattered references in the Demon Hall's collection of books," Huo Lian said.

"Were they left by the First Hall Master?" Huang Xiao asked.

"Some were, while others probably were not. They were likely texts from ancient times," Huo Lian said. "They all mentioned the Seven Treasures."

"Really? Then you must know, Patriarch?" Huang Xiao asked, his face full of delighted surprise.

"I know, yet I do not," Huo Lian said, shaking his head with a wry chuckle.

Huang Xiao froze. Did he know or not?

He was rather confused.

Seeing Huang Xiao's bewildered expression, Huo Lian continued, "Those references in the books all had one thing in common: the Seven Great Treasures held 'a great secret.'"

Huang Xiao nodded. His patriarch had just said that, so he already knew.

He watched intently, waiting for his patriarch to continue.
