In the southern region of the Immortal Spirit Domain lay a dense forest spanning thousands of li, known as the Southern Wilderness Dense Forest.
Here, trees towered into the sky and wild beasts roamed unchecked. The deeper one ventured, the greater the dangers one would encounter.
Those dangers included all manner of naturally formed formations and poisonous miasmas, as well as primeval beasts and vicious venomous insects.
Almost all the beasts and venomous insects that survived here had become supernatural creatures. Many divine beasts also lived within the dense forest, relying on its shelter to escape being surrounded and captured by people of the Jianghu.
The divine beasts of the Immortal Spirit Domain faced much the same plight as those of the Martial World. They were individually powerful, but their numbers were too few to contend with the people of the Jianghu.
Later, these divine beasts generally withdrew into dangerous places.
Only by relying on such treacherous terrain to keep most people of the Jianghu at bay could some divine beasts continue to live freely.
"What was that? A centipede? Half a zhang long?" Xuanyuan Xin's eyes widened as a massive centipede, black tinged with red, darted past several zhang ahead of her.
"You should be used to strange sights by now, shouldn't you?" Zuo Qiu Shu chuckled. "Of all the venomous insects and fierce beasts we've encountered since entering the Dense Forest, which one hasn't been enormous?"
"True." Xuanyuan Xin exhaled. "The spiritual energy of heaven and earth here is much denser than elsewhere. Coupled with the thick growth of trees and the scarcity of human visitors, that's allowed these creatures to grow so enormous. Back on the island, I never imagined I would see anything so wondrous."
