Huang Xiao had an uneasy premonition. He had never even heard of this "Inspector," and with Tuoba Xing holding the post, how could anything good come of it?
"Who told you that?" Huang Xiao asked with a frown. "Since when did the Six Gates have an 'Inspector'?"
"My lord, Lord Huang just announced it. Tuoba Xing has been appointed Inspector, charged with overseeing the constables of every gate within the Six Gates. From Reserve Constables up to First-Class Constables, all are subject to his supervision. Even when it comes to Retainers or Arrest Sages, he has the authority to impeach them. Anyone found violating the Sect Rules will be severely punished without exception," Du Ge said.
Huang Xiao knew that the Lord Huang Du Ge spoke of was Huang Qitao. He had not expected him to withhold notice of such a major matter. After all, he was the Yellow Gate Arrest Sage. By rights, a matter like this should have been discussed by all six Arrest Sages.
Just then, however, another First-Class Constable came in from outside. Judging by his waist token, he belonged to the Heaven Gate.
"My respects, Arrest Sage!" He hurried up to Huang Xiao and greeted him respectfully.
"What is it?" Huang Xiao asked evenly.
"My lord ordered me to inform you that the Six Gates has established the post of Inspector to oversee its constables, and has appointed the former Retainer, Lord Tuoba Xing, as Inspector," the constable said.
"Why have I never heard a word of this?" Huang Xiao stared at the constable and asked coldly.
Under Huang Xiao's stare, the constable broke into a cold sweat. Suppressing his panic, he hurriedly answered, "This matter was settled before you took office, my lord. My lord sent me to inform you at the earliest opportunity."
