With the Beggar Gang members beside him explaining, Huang Xiao came to recognize some of the Jianghu figures standing nearby. In worldly knowledge, he naturally could not compare with the Beggar Gang members. He had no experience traveling Jianghu; even if he had heard some of their names, he could not possibly recognize them.
Among these people were young experts as well as experts who had long since made their names. Most of them had come to compete for positions as Official Constables in the Six Gates, rather than for a reserve constable position like him.
"I wonder when the Arrest Sage will arrive?" Huang Xiao asked after waiting a while.
"Should be soon. The Prince's Mansion isn't far from here," a Beggar Gang disciple beside him replied.
"Huh? Is the Arrest Sage staying at the Prince's Mansion right now?" Huang Xiao asked curiously.
"Brother Huang? You don't even know that?" the Beggar Gang disciple asked, his face full of surprise.
"Know what? I've never met the Arrest Sage, so naturally I wouldn't know he was staying at the Prince's Mansion," Huang Xiao asked, somewhat puzzled.
"It seems you really don't know, Brother Huang. Do you know who the Yellow Gate's Arrest Sage is? Oh, right, Brother Huang, you've actually met the Arrest Sage," the disciple said, keeping him in suspense.
"I've met the Arrest Sage?" Huang Xiao's eyes widened as he stared at the Beggar Gang disciple. Seeing the disciple nod with absolute certainty, he asked, "How could I possibly have?"
Just as the disciple was about to answer, a sudden commotion came from the direction of the city gate. Huang Xiao faintly heard cries such as "Greetings, Your Excellency the Arrest Sage," "The Arrest Sage is here," and "Greetings, Your Highness."
Huang Xiao straightened and suppressed his excitement.
