Huo Lian secured the Tomb Clan’s aid, strengthened Chao Hun, and brought Demon Phoenix’s parents together with their child while Huang Xiao trained to master dangerous techniques and the Minghong Saber. He left Huang Xiao in a Mist Mountain formation with a hundred stronger opponents and ordered him to survive by killing them within a month.

• Huo Lian persuaded Mo Pozheng to cooperate against the Pang Family and secured two phoenixes and fifteen divine beast corpses from the Tomb Clan.
• Huo Lian forced Supreme Demonic Qi through Chao Hun, rebuilt his meridians, and raised him to the Dao Realm before binding him with a Soul-Scattering Curse and ordering him to kill his assigned targets.
• Huo Lian brought the phoenixes to Demon Phoenix, who learned that they were his parents and that Imperial Remnant Manor had imprisoned them to drain their essence blood.
• Demon Phoenix accepted his parents’ guidance but chose to remain with Huang Xiao, while Huo Lian arranged for them to restore the Minghong Saber’s true Saber Soul at the cost of their remaining lifespans.

Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix fought the Enlightenment Realm experts released into the formation, using ambushes, their growing strength, and Huang Xiao’s newly learned Ghost Spirit Indestructible Art to survive. They continued hunting their opponents and left the story ready to face larger groups together.

• Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix hid and trained until Zhen Heng appeared, then Huang Xiao fought and killed him with a Divine Sense attack and Heavenly Demon Subduing Tiger Fist.
• Huang Xiao discovered that Zhen Heng could revive after death, studied his method, and persuaded him to teach the Ghost Spirit Indestructible Art before Zhen Heng severed his own meridians and died.
• Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix ambushed Kong Fu and Zhang Jianqiao as they fought, killing both, but Feng Jing then attacked Huang Xiao and wounded him with his Sword Qi.
• Demon Phoenix fought Feng Jing to protect Huang Xiao, and Feng Jing’s sword attacks left Huang Xiao seemingly dead before Huang Xiao revived using the Ghost Spirit Indestructible Art.
• Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix joined forces to kill Feng Jing, escaped when other experts arrived, and recovered while Huang Xiao explained how the rebirth art had saved him.
• Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix lured two rival experts into fighting and killed them, then Huang Xiao studied the formation while hunting alone and killed another expert.
• Three experts who had found Feng Jing’s body surrounded Huang Xiao, but Demon Phoenix killed one from behind and they defeated the other two together, burning the bodies afterward.

Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix fought their way through the formation’s enemies while pursuing its Formation Eye, and Huang Xiao learned of a limb-regenerating cultivation art before killing Hu Wei. Huo Lian removed Dragon Fang and disrupted the formation, while Huang Xiao survived Chen Mu’s attack and joined Demon Phoenix in fighting him.

• Huang Xiao realized the formation was distorting the landscape, then fought Hu Wei with illusory movements and, with Demon Phoenix’s help, defeated and captured him.
• Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix discovered that Hu Wei’s younger brother had created the unfinished Demon Life Art, killed Hu Wei, and kept his jade pendant as bait for the brother.
• Huang Xiao found the concealed Formation Eye and briefly refined Heavenly Demon Imperishable True Qi left by Huo Lian, which he could use only near its source.
• Huo Lian retrieved Dragon Fang from Dragon Mountain, revealing it as the Formation Eye, while Baili Zhen sent Hong Yi into the exposed slot to cultivate.

As Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix cultivated, the Phoenixes were captured by a hidden gathering of beasts, where the Four Clan Chiefs prepared to announce an upheaval tied to the returned Dragon Vein.

• Huang Xiao used illusions and Northern Darkness Absorption to overcome Chen Mu, then crushed Chen Mu’s heart despite suffering severe injuries.
• Huo Lian led Huang Xiao and Demon Phoenix deeper into Mist Mountain, revealed the danger surrounding the Demon Hall’s sleeping Hall Masters, and taught Huang Xiao the Demon-Controlling Art.
• Demon Phoenix warned Huang Xiao that former Hall Masters were preserved in the Land of Slumber through divine-beast essence blood, while Huang Xiao resolved to fight for his freedom rather than accept the Patriarch’s plans.
• Huang Xiao discovered that the ninth strand of Supreme Demonic Qi resonated with his heart fire, then refined it and learned to control strands of the Qi at the cost of essence blood.
• Huang Xiao shared his heart fire with Demon Phoenix, whose flames grew more condensed and powerful as it continued cultivating with the Supreme Demonic Qi.
