Ch. 1Prologue

Han Shuo was abducted to the moon by Chu Canglan, who planned to use the Demon-Seeding Technique if he lost a fight against three opponents. After Chu Canglan and his challengers fought, a black light entered Han Shuo, leaving his fate uncertain.

  • Chu Canglan abducted Han Shuo to the moon and explained that he had chosen him as a potential vessel for his spiritual consciousness.
  • Han Shuo cursed Chu Canglan, who threatened to kill him even if he won, then immobilized him inside the purple shield as three challengers arrived.
  • Chu Canglan fought the three challengers while Han Shuo, trapped in a nearby gully, regretted his wasted life and vowed to change if he survived.
  • Chu Canglan attempted the Demon-Seeding Technique, and Master Yuankong sacrificed himself with the Great Nirvana Spell to stop it.
  • A streak of black light entered Han Shuo's purple shield and mind, causing excruciating pain before he lost consciousness.

Ch. 2Climbing out of the Grave

Han Shuo awakened in the graveyard in Brian’s corpse and learned about Brian’s brutal life at the Babylon Academy of Magic and Martial Arts. After discovering Chu Canglan’s demonic cultivation memories and beginning to cultivate, Han Shuo climbed out of the grave and set out to return to the academy.

  • Han Shuo realized he had revived in Brian’s body in the unfamiliar Qio Continent, and learned that Brian had died after Lisa’s summoned Wraith invaded his soul.
  • Han Shuo absorbed memories of Chu Canglan’s Demonic Cultivation Art and discovered a weak stream of demonic essence within himself.
  • Han Shuo decided to return to the Babylon Academy because he had no money and could not safely escape his status as a servant.
  • Han Shuo practiced the first cultivation realm, solid body, and found that his pain lessened and his strength returned.
  • Han Shuo climbed out of the grave and saw the full moon, unaware that the demonic seed was also changing his thoughts.

Ch. 3Ignorance really is terrifying

Han Shuo tried to get revenge on Lisa by pretending to be a corpse outside her window, but she recognized the trick and beat him. The encounter showed him how much he still had to learn about Necromancy in this unfamiliar world.

  • Han Shuo returned to the Necromancy department and found Brian's storeroom still filled with rubbish.
  • Angered by Brian's mistreatment, Han Shuo went to Lisa's dormitory to frighten her.
  • Han Shuo smeared experimental blood on his face and knocked on Lisa's window while posing as a corpse.
  • Lisa recognized Han Shuo as Brian and struck him, explaining that a Necromancer could tell there was no soul in a body.
  • Han Shuo realized he knew little about Necromancy and wondered whether practicing it alongside Chu Cangming's demonic arts could make him stronger.

Ch. 4From idiot to madman

Han Shuo discovered that his demonic essence could harden parts of his body while Lisa and the other necromancy students mistook his strange behavior for madness. The next morning, he learned that Bark had beaten Jack and decided to take revenge, using his apparent insanity as cover.

  • Han Shuo endured Lisa's beating until demonic essence hardened his right buttock, hurting Lisa's foot and easing his own pain.
  • Han Shuo acted like a madman to deflect Lisa's questions, and Lisa and the other girls left him alone.
  • Han Shuo returned to the Supply Storeroom and slept until Jack arrived the next morning, relieved to find him alive.
  • Han Shuo asked Jack for food, and Jack noticed that he was acting differently than Brian used to.
  • Jack told Han Shuo that Bark had bruised his eye, so Han Shuo declared he would take revenge and dragged Jack out.

Ch. 5A chest as flat as bread

Han Shuo and Jack tricked Lisa into attacking Bark by making her believe he had mocked her chest, then followed the fight at the Necromancy Department. As Lisa cast Soul Pain at Bark, he dodged and the spell struck Han Shuo, who collapsed.

  • Han Shuo persuaded the reluctant Jack to help him get revenge on Bark, then planted a false rumor about Lisa's chest while she listened from behind a statue.
  • Lisa confronted Bark and summoned two Skeleton Warriors, overwhelming him in their fight.
  • Bark summoned a skeleton to defend himself, but Lisa's minion kicked him and she recalled her Skeleton Warriors.
  • Bark charged at Han Shuo and Jack, prompting Lisa to cast Soul Pain at him.
  • Bark dodged the spell at the last moment, and Soul Pain hit Han Shuo, who fell unconscious.

Ch. 6How Could You Call It Stealing?

After Lisa’s Soul Pain left him with recurring headaches, Han Shuo persuaded Jack to bring him books on necromancy and began studying magic while secretly practicing his demonic arts. As his body and demonic essence grew stronger, his temper became harder to control, and he passed out when his demonic essence entered his head during another attack of Soul Pain.

  • Han Shuo woke drenched in the storage room, learned that Jack and Uncle Shalu had carried him back after Lisa knocked him unconscious, and discovered her Soul Pain would last a month.
  • Han Shuo persuaded Jack to secretly borrow Necromancy Basics and a Magic Dictionary, then began reading and meditating to develop mental power.
  • For seven days Han Shuo continued his servant duties and meditation, endured recurring headaches, and used the pain to disrupt students’ magic experiments.
  • Bark repeatedly beat Han Shuo, but Han Shuo’s demonic arts practice after each beating gradually strengthened his body and demonic essence while making his temper harder to control.
  • While meditating during another Soul Pain attack, Han Shuo’s demonic essence flowed into his head, triggered an intense burst of pain, and caused him to pass out.

Ch. 7Sooner or later, I'll win her over

Han Shuo discovered that his Demonic Essence had awakened his mental power, allowing him to summon a tiny skeleton that helped with his chores. After his bruises healed and he stood up to Bark, he became infatuated with Teacher Fanny and vowed to win her over.

  • Han Shuo used a summoning incantation to bring a tiny skeleton into the Supply Storeroom, then ordered it to take out the garbage the next morning.
  • Han Shuo noticed his bruises had vanished and his body was recovering as his Demonic Cultivation Art advanced.
  • Amy told Athena she had seen a tiny skeleton carrying garbage, while Han Shuo shared Jack's hidden bread and joked about Bark's strength.
  • Lisa threatened to practice Soul Pain on Brian after a month, and Han Shuo's teasing made Lisa laugh before Bark attacked Jack.
  • Han Shuo stepped in front of Jack, took Bark's punch without swaying, and hit Bark back before Teacher Fanny ordered everyone to class.
  • Han Shuo watched Fanny leave and told Jack that he would win her over sooner or later.

Ch. 8Refining a Skeleton Like a Demonic Treasure

Han Shuo drove off the errand workers who had bullied him and Jack, then began studying Necromancy seriously. Remembering Chu Canglan’s Demonic Treasure techniques, he improvised a refining array with Little Skeleton as the main material, and seven whirlpools formed around the bone spikes as he fell asleep.

  • Han Shuo ate Bark’s pastries and refused Borg and Keri’s order to clean the laboratory.
  • Han Shuo fought Keri and Borg, endured their attacks, and chased them away; Jack praised him.
  • Han Shuo and Jack stopped doing Keri and Borg’s work, while Han Shuo focused on studying Necromancy and meditating.
  • Han Shuo recalled Chu Canglan’s Demonic Treasure methods and decided to experiment on Little Skeleton using discarded materials.
  • Han Shuo arranged seven bone spikes in a wooden bucket, circulated Demonic Essence into them, and watched seven whirlpools form in the water.

Ch. 9The formidable Seven-Winged Little Skeleton

Han Shuo discovered that his refined Little Skeleton had become a fast, black, seven-spiked undead who resisted Light Department magic and ran amok at the Light Department Magic Academy. The chapter ended with Little Skeleton responding to Han Shuo’s command to attack Eileen again.

  • Jack told Han Shuo that Lisa’s strange Little Skeleton had escaped and was racing toward the Light Department Magic Academy.
  • Han Shuo found that he could contact Little Skeleton mentally but could not initially make him obey, so he hurried to the academy with Jack.
  • Little Skeleton dodged Lisa’s spells and stunned the students when Eileen’s Light Sword Slash struck him without destroying him.
  • Little Skeleton charged Eileen and tore her mage robes as she dodged his Bone Blade.
  • Han Shuo’s mental command reached Little Skeleton, who charged Eileen again to slash her clothes.

Ch. 10This time, he was really done for

Han Shuo protected Little Skeleton from Claude's attack and discovered that his demonic essence had trapped the knight's battle aura without seriously injuring him. Little Skeleton escaped, while Eileen and Lisa blamed Bark for summoning it, and Han Shuo and Jack expected Bark to face consequences.

  • Little Skeleton slashed Eileen's clothes, and Claude arrived and struck the Skeleton Warrior with battle aura.
  • When Claude attacked again, Han Shuo stepped in front of Little Skeleton and took the blow, while Little Skeleton fled toward the Necromancy Department.
  • Han Shuo realized his demonic essence had contained Claude's battle aura, and Claude wondered why his attack had left him exhausted.
  • Lisa defended Han Shuo from Claude, and Han Shuo stammered that he had seen Little Skeleton near Bark's room.
  • Eileen and Lisa prepared to confront Bark, but the class bell rang and the students hurried away.
  • Han Shuo told Jack that Bark was done for, and Jack agreed.

Ch. 11A demonic practitioner followed his desires

Han Shuo discovered that demonic essence was slowly draining Claude’s battle aura from his chest, then faced Lisa’s Zombie Warrior during a practice session. As his desire for revenge overcame his restraint, he charged toward Lisa.

  • Han Shuo saw pale greenish-blue battle aura leaking from his chest and realized his demonic essence was gradually expelling it.
  • Han Shuo avoided sending Little Skeleton back to the Supply Storeroom while the morning’s uproar continued.
  • Bark confronted Han Shuo in the Trial Ground, but Fanny stopped him from chasing Han Shuo.
  • Lisa summoned a Zombie Warrior to practice attacking Han Shuo, who dodged its club with unexpected speed.
  • Han Shuo’s urge for revenge intensified as he recalled that a demonic practitioner followed his desires, and he suddenly charged at Lisa.

Ch. 12This time it was a stick

Han Shuo chased Lisa, kicked her, and discovered that following his desires helped the Demonic Essence absorb Claude's fighting aura and improve his abilities. After Lisa nearly attacked him with Bone Arrow, he stopped her incantation with a kiss, leaving them both dazed until she mistook his erection for a stick.

  • Han Shuo chased Lisa around the training grounds and kicked her after she fell.
  • The Demonic Essence absorbed Claude's pale green fighting aura, restoring Han Shuo's stamina and strengthening his Demonic Essence.
  • Han Shuo easily dodged the Zombie Warrior's attacks as his speed and eyesight improved.
  • Han Shuo tried to touch Lisa's bottom, and she kicked him, leaving him fallen on top of her.
  • Lisa began chanting Bone Arrow, so Han Shuo pinned her arms and kissed her to interrupt the spell.
  • Lisa pushed Han Shuo away and complained that he had another strange thing in his trousers, this time a stick.

Ch. 13A Busybody Meddling in Other People's Business

After Lisa confronted Bryan about his growing strength, he tricked her with a false recipe and secretly repaired the little skeleton using his demon abyssal power. Bryan then eavesdropped on Gene’s necromancy lesson, where his broom tripped Fitch and Gene’s intervention made the situation worse.

  • Lisa questioned Bryan about his increasing strength, and Bryan claimed a mixture of magic reagent, lizard tails, and jackal teeth had made him stronger.
  • Bryan found the injured little skeleton beneath the garbage and carried it back to the sundry storehouse, where he tried to repair it with the Yin Demon Essence-Congealing Array.
  • Bryan studied Necromancy Basics, meditated, and noticed the little skeleton had recovered and gained dark power around the bones in the bucket.
  • Bryan went to the necromancy classroom to listen to Gene’s lesson, but his broom tripped Fitch.
  • Gene mocked Fitch’s repeated failures and excused Bryan, while Bryan resented Gene’s interference as Fitch confronted him.

Ch. 14Mystic Ice Demon Flame Art

After Fitch knocked Han Shuo unconscious, Fanny discovered that his bruises healed quickly and that he had mental energy, then arranged better meals and lighter work for him. That night, Han Shuo began practicing the Mystic Ice Demon Flame Art, though circulating demonic energy through his arm caused intense pain.

  • Fitch struck Han Shuo twice with his magic staff, knocking him unconscious.
  • Fanny treated Han Shuo's forehead, found mental energy in his mind, and decided to study whether Agony of the Soul could help ordinary people become mages.
  • Fanny arranged for Han Shuo to receive lighter work and better meals, and Goda gave him white bread, milk, and an egg.
  • Han Shuo restored the Yin Demon Essence-Congealing Array's demonic energy, then practiced the Mystic Ice Demon Flame Art and painfully circulated energy through his right arm.
  • Han Shuo fell asleep and dreamed that the little skeleton beat up Fitch for him.

Ch. 15Finished ahead of time

Han Shuo secretly studied necromancy and practiced demonic arts while his body grew stronger, but his attempts to cast a bone arrow kept failing. While training in the graveyard, he witnessed Duke and Eric pursue and kill Dylan, then was discovered and forced to flee as Eric chased after him.

  • Han Shuo learned from Jack that the little skeleton had beaten Fitch and escaped from the fourth floor, confirming that his dream had come true.
  • Han Shuo spent several peaceful days listening to Gene's lectures, practicing demonic arts, and secretly attempting necromancy spells in the graveyard.
  • After Han Shuo's bone arrow failed again, he hid when a wounded man named Dylan ran into the graveyard and buried a gray pouch in the ground.
  • Duke and Eric caught up with Dylan, and Eric killed him before they discovered the pouch was missing.
  • Duke found Han Shuo hiding among the rocks and lifted him into the air with magic, but Han Shuo ran when released.
  • Duke told Eric to see Han Shuo off, and Han Shuo felt Eric rapidly closing in behind him.

Ch. 16I'm rich! I'm rich!

Han Shuo survived Eric’s attack by pretending to be dead, then recovered Dylan’s hidden pouch and discovered that it contained money, a Jade Box, and a key. He hid the pouch in the Supply Storeroom after sensing a sinister presence inside the Jade Box.

  • Han Shuo dodged Eric’s first attack, but Eric struck him with Battle Aura and left him for dead in a grave.
  • Han Shuo ordered Little Skeleton to stay hidden, waited nearly an hour, and climbed out after Eric had left.
  • Han Shuo returned to the scene, found Dylan’s body gone, and dug up the gray pouch Dylan had buried.
  • Han Shuo found three gold coins, twelve silver coins, fifty-six copper coins, a Jade Box, and a green key inside the pouch.
  • Han Shuo sensed a cold, sinister presence in the Jade Box, hid the pouch beneath his bed, and let Little Skeleton bandage his back.

Ch. 17A Whole Bunch of People Beat Me

Han Shuo fought Keri, Borg, and four Darkness Department errand boys after they blamed him for Lisa’s experimental food. As Fanny and others approached, he disguised himself as their victim and crawled toward them for help.

  • Jack warned Han Shuo that Keri and Borg had brought helpers to settle the score, while Borg and Keri arrived sick from Lisa’s concoctions.
  • Han Shuo’s urge to fight overwhelmed him, and he told Jack to use the broom’s sharp end if anyone attacked him.
  • When the six attackers charged, Han Shuo threw Keri to the ground, punched Borg, and battered the others with a broken stool as his Demonic Essence refined Eric’s Battle Aura.
  • Hearing Fanny approaching, Han Shuo smeared blood over himself, reopened his back wound, and crawled toward the entrance, claiming that the group had beaten him.

Ch. 18An evil, simple-minded grin

Han Shuo framed Keri and the others for beating him, and Fanny took him to her laboratory to treat his wounds. Lisa exposed that she knew he had staged the incident and ordered him to meet her that night, while Fanny explained his quickly healing wounds as an effect of the Pain of the Undead spell.

  • Fanny accidentally stepped on Han Shuo's hand, then believed his claim that Keri and the others had beaten him and threatened them with punishment.
  • Jack backed Han Shuo's story, and Fanny helped him to her laboratory while Han Shuo secretly signaled Jack to leave.
  • Lisa noticed Han Shuo's wounds had already begun to scab and whispered that she had witnessed him beating Keri and framing the group.
  • Lisa reminded Han Shuo that he had deceived and kissed her, then ordered him to meet her at the rockery behind the teaching building that night.
  • Fanny noticed Han Shuo's wounds were healing quickly and attributed it to the Pain of the Undead spell, while Fitch watched them jealously from the doorway before vanishing.

Ch. 19Please, Spare Us

Han Shuo persuaded Keri and Borg to finish his chores in exchange for asking Fanny to spare them, then went to meet Lisa behind the teaching building. He avoided her first traps but tricked her into falling into the pit herself.

  • Han Shuo found Keri and Borg waiting outside his storeroom, begging him to ask Fanny not to expel them.
  • Han Shuo agreed to plead for them if they completed his chores, and warned them to keep his feigned stupidity secret.
  • Borg told Han Shuo that Lisa had prepared a net, a snare, and a pit near the rockery, and Han Shuo learned where the traps were.
  • Lisa waited behind the rockery and tried to lure Han Shuo into her snare and net, but he crossed the loop without being caught.
  • Lisa believed Han Shuo had fallen into the pit and ran over to taunt him, but he grabbed her ankle and pulled her into it instead.

Ch. 20I like you

Han Shuo saved Lisa from a fall into a pit, then pretended to confess his love so she would forgive him and help him escape. Back in his storeroom, he discovered that the jade box from Dylan could be opened when he focused his mental strength on it.

  • Han Shuo caught Lisa and took the impact of the rocks when they fell into the pit together.
  • Han Shuo told Lisa he had secretly loved her for years, and Lisa refused his advances but forgave him and left him a rope to climb out.
  • Han Shuo teased Lisa about ways to develop her breasts, then climbed out of the pit and returned to his storeroom.
  • Han Shuo practiced demonic cultivation and suspected his demonic energy had absorbed fighting aura to grow stronger.
  • Han Shuo sensed that the jade box from Dylan was disturbing his meditation, focused his mental strength on it, and turned the key until the box sprang open.
