The next day, Ye Feng opened his eyes just as the sun peeked over the horizon.
After a night of training, he clearly felt he had gained more than he had over the previous few days. Training with Might Duy and his son really did help him strengthen his body.
Ye Feng quickly washed up and ate, then arrived early beside the Konoha Gate. Seeing that Might Duy and his son had not arrived yet, he began warming up.
Before long, two sprinting figures appeared in Ye Feng's field of vision.
Might Duy ran up to Ye Feng and praised him:
"Ye Feng, you really are hardworking! You got here before us. We truly can't waste our youth. Guy, tomorrow we need to start training even earlier!"
There went Might Duy with his over-the-top antics again.
"Ye Feng, I brought you a gift today. It'll definitely let you experience how smooth training can feel. Ta-da!"
Might Duy produced a Pure Green Jumpsuit from who knew where and displayed it for Ye Feng to admire as though it were a treasure. Looking at the springy jumpsuit swaying in the wind, Ye Feng imagined walking down the street wearing it, with people pointing at him and calling him a pervert. He shuddered and secretly resolved that he would rather die than wear it.
"Thank you for the kind offer, sir, but I have a bit of a physical condition. Wearing really tight clothes makes my whole body uncomfortable, and I have trouble breathing. It looks like an amazing outfit, but unfortunately, my body just isn't up to it." Inspiration struck Ye Feng, and he admired himself for coming up with such a perfectly reasonable lie.
"That really is a shame. That smooth feeling would absolutely leave you wanting more." Looking regretful, Might Duy put away the bizarre jumpsuit.
"All right, it's time to begin today's training. Are you excited? Let's give it our all! This is youth!"
The formerly two-man team of over-the-top Taijutsu enthusiasts had now become three. As they trained around Konoha, people often pointed and talked about them.
"That kind of idiocy is contagious. There used to be two of them, and now there are three. Hurry and keep your distance so you don't catch it."
Time flew, and two months passed in the blink of an eye.
That morning, Ye Feng was just about to head out for Taijutsu training when Obito stopped him.
"Today's the first day at the Ninja Academy, and you're still going out to train? Lord Third Hokage is giving a speech today!"
"Last time, they only said school would start in two months. Nobody told me the exact date. I thought there were still a few days left, and you didn't tell me either."
Obito Uchiha scratched his head awkwardly. "You never asked. I thought you knew. Come on, let's go together. I'll show you the way."
Since he could not go to Taijutsu training today, Ye Feng thought about going to let Might Duy and his son know so they would not wait for him. But then he remembered that Might Guy would also be enrolling this year, and Might Duy had not told him anything either. Apparently, he was the only one in their circle who did not know school started today.
On the way to the Ninja Academy with Obito Uchiha, Obito was constantly darting around, helping an old lady cross the street one moment and helping an old man tidy up his stall the next. He was run off his feet. This was Obito's kindness and liveliness, and it was also why he was late every day. If Ye Feng had not kept urging him on from behind, he would have been late even on the first day of school.
With Ye Feng sprinting along and dragging Obito with him, they finally managed to register before the people at the registration desk left. Strangely enough, though, Obito Uchiha had already been registered, but he himself knew nothing about it and was just as confused.
Unable to figure it out, they stopped thinking about it. They found their classroom and walked into First-Year Class 2.
The instant they stepped through the door, the noisy classroom fell silent, and everyone turned to look at Ye Feng and Obito.
Unfazed, Obito greeted everyone:
"Hello, everyone! I'm Obito Uchiha, the man who'll become Hokage!"
"Tch!" Obito Uchiha was answered with a chorus of scorn and a flurry of flying objects.
Ye Feng had no desire to get caught in the crossfire and hurriedly dragged Obito toward a corner in the back row.
"Wow, it's Rin! What luck! I'm actually in the same class as Rin!" As he followed Ye Feng toward the back, Obito looked as though he had discovered a new continent. He promptly ditched his friend for the girl, spotted an empty seat beside Rin Nohara, and rushed to claim it, greeting her with a lovestruck look on his face.
"Hi, Rin! We're in the same class. It must be fate."
"Hi, Obito. I thought you were going to be late again, so I already registered for you," Rin Nohara said to Obito with a gentle smile.
"No wonder they said I'd already registered when I went to sign up. You really do care about me the most, Rin. I nearly ended up late today helping an old lady cross the street, too. If Ye Feng hadn't dragged me along, I probably would've been late again. Huh?"
Only then did Obito notice that Kakashi Hatake was sitting on Rin's other side.
"What are you doing here, you dead-eyed jerk? What rotten luck, getting put in the same class as you!" Obito pointed at Kakashi with a look that said the heavens were unjust.
"Don't talk like that, Obito. We're all classmates now, so we should respect and care for each other. Right, Kakashi?" Rin Nohara turned toward Kakashi.
Kakashi Hatake did not even look at Obito. He merely gave a simple "Mm" in response to Rin Nohara.
It was Ye Feng's first time seeing Rin Nohara. She had short brown hair and large, dark brown eyes, and wore a light pink skirt with safety shorts underneath. What left the deepest impression on Ye Feng was her warm, sweet smile. She really was a lovely girl.
Rin Nohara was also the name Obito Uchiha mentioned most often around Ye Feng. Even an ordinary person could tell that Obito liked Rin Nohara, let alone Ye Feng, who had lived for over twenty years, met countless people, and experienced both the warmth and coldness of human relationships.
But from Rin Nohara's behavior, it was clear that she treated Obito Uchiha as an immature younger brother and often looked out for him, as shown by how she had prepared his enrollment materials. Then, seeing the faint blush on her cheeks and the girlish admiration in her eyes as she looked at Kakashi Hatake, Ye Feng knew Obito had no chance and felt sorry for him.
