For a time, Sunagakure's high command split into two factions. One thought Konoha was arrogant and deliberately provoking Sunagakure, and that they should teach it a lesson. The other thought Orochimaru had always been a levelheaded ninja and should not have done something like this without some particular reason. They should investigate the situation before deciding what to do.
The two factions kept arguing, neither able to persuade the other. Listening to them gave the Third Kazekage a headache, so he interrupted them and said with some impatience:
"All of you, shut up. Let's return to camp first."
With that, the Third Kazekage controlled the iron sand and took everyone back to Sunagakure's main camp.
On Konoha's side, they had already spotted the Third Kazekage and his group in the distance. The Konoha ninja seemed rather anxious, however. After all, their opponents were all long-established experts, and they were so close that no one knew when they might charge over.
Only when they saw the Third Kazekage leave with his people did the anxiety on their faces ease considerably.
Orochimaru, on the other hand, showed no concern at all. Instead, he stood at the very front of the group, likewise watching the Third Kazekage and the others in the distance. But when he saw the Third Kazekage leave, a trace of regret appeared on his face.
The Konoha ninja worked quickly. Just two hours later, Konoha's main camp was ready.
