"Who are you?"
"Forgive my dullness, but I don't quite understand what you're saying."
Watching the figure that had suddenly appeared, Wang Ba drifted backward, his expression calm as he asked in an even voice.
In truth, however, he had already guessed the other party's identity.
This man was most likely Puyuan's master, Arhat Zhifa, who had just fought his junior fellow disciple Shen Fu.
But if this man was here now, what had become of his junior fellow disciple?
At that possibility, Wang Ba's heart sank slightly.
His face, however, betrayed nothing.
Hearing this, the long-armed monk demanded in a voice that seemed both sorrowful and angry:
"Why do you deceive me, benefactor?"
"You used some unknown means to infiltrate the Pure Land Buddha Kingdom and kill him, and now you have fled by yet another unknown means. But since you became entangled with my disciple, his karma remains upon you, and I have already seen it."
"Even if my disciple had a thousand faults, he did not deserve to die. How did he offend you, benefactor, for you to deal him such a vicious hand?"
Karma?
Wang Ba grew inwardly wary.
He was naturally no stranger to the concept of karma.
Yet among the rules he had comprehended, there had never been anything as intangible and elusive as karma.
Thus, he only half believed the monk's words.
His thoughts shifted, and he shook his head indifferently.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Farewell."
With that, he turned and swiftly flew away.
A vicious gleam flashed through the long-armed monk's eyes behind him, but he slowly lowered his head and pressed his palms together.
"Supreme True Buddha... Since you refuse to submit to your guilt, benefactor, do not blame me."
The next instant, his joined palms abruptly turned!
