The main principle behind the new Super Arcane Magic was to use the effect of Energy Ascension to control arcane energy and generate spatial energy, forming ring-shaped waves that spread outward. The primary effect of these waves was Spatial Severance, which attacked targets directly by cutting through space. As space fractured, the bodies of enemies struck by it would break apart.
Patrick fed in a little mana to activate the arcane energy in the Magic Ring, and the first wave began to spread. As it swept past, a cup on the desk split in two, and Elf Fruit Wine slowly spilled onto the desktop.
"Initially, at least, it worked. The Spatial Severance effect was perfect, too." Patrick jotted a few things in his notes, then increased the mana input to activate the Magic Ring and send more waves spreading outward.
The second and third waves spread, but the Magic Ring seemed unable to withstand Patrick's mana input. After he poured in a large amount of mana, cracks began to appear in the ring. Eventually, as more and more cracks formed, the Magic Ring lost its stability and shattered, falling to the floor.
[Your design approach is correct. You can drive the arcane energy directly and send the cutting waves straight out of the Arcane Orb in your hand,] a certain female Elf suggested.
"Without simulating it through the Magic Ring? Wouldn't that be a little unsafe?" Patrick asked doubtfully.
[It isn't much of a problem, because the Energy Ascension rune you obtained from the Grand Archmage's Sanctum already includes safety considerations. When a problem occurs with the Metamagic runes you've combined, the Energy Ascension rune will malfunction and stop elevating arcane energy into spatial energy. Once the energy source is lost, the Spatial Severance waves will automatically stop as well.
