Sun Temple

The Sun Temple stood against the southern slope of Sunscar Peak. The terrain formed a C shape, sat at a high elevation, and had only one exit. An'telas lay directly behind it, with Farstriders Camp farther east and Tranquillien Town guarding the northwest, so there was no need to worry about enemies occupying Sunscar Peak and attacking the Sun Temple from above. It resembled a ring of linked military bases, easy to defend and difficult to attack, and was also a fortress capable of coordinating with An'telas, Tranquillien, and An'owyn.

Immediately outside lay a flat training ground. The rangers stationed around it and the straw dummies and archery targets set up nearby made the clearing's purpose obvious. The outer sentry posts and surrounding Elf residences encircled the Sun Temple's Mage Tower like stars clustered around the moon.

Next, they entered the C-shaped valley where the Sun Temple stood. The ground here was much higher than the surrounding area, offering an overview of the base's perimeter. A row of splendid white marble walls surrounded the Sun Temple, hugging the mountainsides, while stone paving covered the ground in unparalleled luxury. Two exquisite Elf-style statues also stood at the valley entrance, with lookout platforms built into them to monitor the surrounding area.

With troops stationed in successive defensive rings, favorable terrain, and command of the high ground, the Elves could bring the entire southern slope of Sunscar Peak under attack, while also eliminating the possibility of Troll spellcasters attacking and occupying it.

Protected by the Mage Tower and the rangers, the entire Sun Temple formed a cohesive whole. For the Trolls to take it, they would have to send troops to hold off reinforcements from the Tranquillien and An'owyn garrisons, while simultaneously dispatching three Troll forces to attack Farstriders Camp, An'telas Temple, and the Sun Temple for their assault to have any effect.

Otherwise, Farstriders Camp, An'telas Temple, the Sun Temple, Tranquillien, and An'owyn could support one another and pin down the Troll forces. Attacking a single Elf garrison alone would be meaningless, and the attackers might even be held in place by the defenders, then surrounded and wiped out by arriving Elf troops.

They passed through the valley entrance and entered the Sun Temple.

The interior featured the signature decorations of the Blood Elves, with exquisite Elf patterns carved throughout, along with works of craftsmanship. The hall was fully appointed, with stairs leading to the upper and lower floors as well as teleportation magic circles. Patrick could feel the abundant arcane energy inside the Mage Tower. Multiple arcane magic circles were operating within it, including a Constant Temperature Field, an Isolation Field, and others.

"You must be Lord Patrick Cabrolon. I am Arcanist Yanida, responsible for the Sun Temple's magical energy supplies." The female Elf merely bent slightly in a gesture of respect.

Over thousands of years, the Elves had developed an arrogant disposition. Their formidable individual strength and the invincible national might of Quel'Thalas made every Elf this way. After more than six thousand years, this pride had seeped into their bones, even toward their own kind.

But the Elves of the present had not suffered the destruction of their nation and homes, nor had they taken a path of obsession and extremism. They still showed respect to those stronger than themselves, but that respect did not interfere with their own pride.

"Yes, this is His Excellency Patrick Cabrolon, the Sun Temple's newly appointed Chief Mage, appointed by the Silvermoon Council. Those beside him are Scholar engineers dispatched by the Silvermoon Council." It was Quelrintis who stepped forward to make the introductions.

"You can all get to work. Carry out the alterations according to the arcane scrolls I modified earlier. The Sun Temple's structure is excellent, so I haven't changed much, only making a few additions and adjustments to suit my personal habits and the structural layout. I need Mages Quelrintis and Yanida to brief me on the Mage Tower's daily operations and maintenance," Patrick told the engineers casually.

Upon hearing this, the engineers handed their luggage to their attendants and took out the plans, preparing to begin work. Led by Quelrintis, Patrick also went straight to the Chief Mage's office on the fifth floor.

Quelrintis and Yanida exchanged a glance, and Yanida spoke first.

"Everything inside the Sun Temple is operating normally.

"The Constant Temperature Field, Protective Field, and Fortification Field are all functioning normally. The tower's energy power system is operating properly, and there have been no abnormalities in the energy supply to the temple's interior. The tower's surplus energy allocation is collected and can be made into runes and Arcane Crystals for storage as materials." "The Sun Temple is the fastest channel of communication between the Ghostlands and the Silvermoon Council. It is also a command post for frontline operations and serves to monitor the Troll Priests." Yanida spoke in great detail, explaining everything concerning the Sun Temple to Patrick, down to the smallest particulars.

Quelrintis continued, "The ranger forces stationed outside belong to Sylvanas Windrunner, commander of the Ghostlands. They protect the Sun Temple and provide replacement troops for the front line. Another force is stationed southeast of the Sun Temple. These are the rangers General Sylvanas deployed at the frontline outpost, under the command of her adjutant, General Lor'themar Theron."

"This force serves to restrict the Trolls' range of activity and promptly report their movements. General Sylvanas is also responsible for defending Elfgate. After her routine monthly inspection of Elfgate, General Sylvanas returns to the front line or comes to the Sun Temple to rotate the garrison."

Quelrintis explained the situation around the Sun Temple to Patrick, giving him some preliminary preparation for his future work and life there.

Hearing the latter introduction to the troops made the corners of Patrick's mouth lift slightly. Sylvanas and Lor'themar Theron were both "old acquaintances."

"Then let's do this. Quelrintis, Yanida, you two will remain responsible for your previous duties. Although the Sun Temple is remote, it is extremely important. Together, we can make this place into what we envision," Patrick said, encouraging them.

Patrick had plans of his own. The Sun Temple was indeed remote, so remote that Elf mages did not want to come. The mages of Quel'Thalas all wanted to make a name for themselves in Silvermoon City. Coupled with the council's lack of attention, this meant the Sun Temple had remained unused all this time.

His unexpected participation in Alleria's operation had unexpectedly earned him a Mage Tower. Although it was far from Silvermoon City, that suited Patrick perfectly. In Silvermoon City, if Patrick wanted to rise, he could essentially only become a subordinate of another clan, with virtually no room for development. The Sun Temple was different. With this Mage Tower, Patrick could skip the initial accumulation of capital and devote himself to studying the arcane and advancing his rank, without having to trouble himself over politics and similar issues.

Thus, although developing away from the city seemed difficult, it actually held the greatest potential. The Sun Temple now belonged to Patrick, and he had an alchemy room, an enchanting room, and a library. In the future, he would also have followers and apprentices of his own. So Patrick's future was bright.
