Patrick felt a surge of joy. This meant Alleria's attack had worked. The Qiraji's full-body carapace offered astonishing protection, but the soft flesh inside had little resistance. Shooting into Ouro's mouth as he swallowed had undoubtedly been the right choice.
The giant worm had been wounded for the first time. Already enraged, Ouro darted back and forth through the sand. A thought suddenly struck Patrick: although ordinary attacks struggled to damage Ouro's outer carapace, his body resembled an enormous centipede. Where were an armored insect's weak points? Without a doubt, they were the joints and the connections between each segment of its body.
"Everyone, attack his joints! That's his weak point." As soon as Patrick finished speaking, he fired three more Frostbolts. Just as he had expected, all three struck Ouro's body, lodging simultaneously in the gaps between his segments. The insect's blood dripped from the bolts of ice.
Seeing Patrick's attacks work, the other mages and Rangers followed suit. Alleria drew her bow and nocked another arrow. The heavy armor-piercing arrow, enchanted for exceptional armor penetration, left the string with a whistle and slammed into Ouro's lower jaw, burying a substantial length of its shaft.
Ouro's entire body stiffened, then lay motionless. Alleria's arrow had pierced clean through the carapace protecting his lower jaw and directly damaged his brain. Just like that, the enormous burrowing worm that had run rampant met his end.
The Scarlet Crusade nearby was not so fortunate. Although Taelan and the Scarlet Crusade's brave fighters had scattered Viscidus many times, it did no good at all. Once scattered, Viscidus would quickly gather again, turning back into that enormous ooze.
The Paladins had also tried to devise a solution. After Viscidus was scattered into droplets, he would quickly seep into the desert. The sand could not
