The conversation with the female elf felt light and easy. Patrick casually recounted the fighting in the Life Forest. She was a very good listener, gentle and intelligent, lively and perceptive. Clearly, she had received a different level of education, and an aristocratic air surrounded her.
With their comfortable lives, the elves of this time had yet to become extreme or radical, and there was an elegance to how they conducted themselves and treated others. Of course, that elegance was reserved for their own kind. When enemies came, they naturally had hunting rifles ready for the jackals.
Only later did Patrick learn that the female elf came from the Sunstrider family, and from its direct line at that. It was one of Silvermoon City's foremost Great Clans. Unlike those aligned with the Council, however, generations of the Sunstrider family had served in the High Elf forces on the Isle of Quel'Danas, the garrison that protected the Sunwell, the source upon which the High Elves depended for survival. The family's retainers and mage corps members also formed the core strength of the Sunfury Legion, the foremost legion under the Sunstrider Royal Family.
Patrick and Luminass were deep in an engaging conversation when an attendant from the tower approached, bearing the Dawnblade insignia, and interrupted them.
"My apologies for disturbing you both. Master Oaks would like to invite Mr. Patrick over to discuss an important matter." The attendant was extremely respectful, without the slightest air of arrogance.
Upon hearing this, Luminas Sunstrider politely nodded to indicate, "Please, go ahead." Patrick courteously returned the gesture, then followed the attendant away.
Patrick followed the attendant to an office door. Security magic circles were everywhere around it; stabilization spells, mana reflection, and Dimensional Anchor could all be sensed.
