"I'll go with you," Modera said, her eyes filled with resolve.

The entire Kirin Tor now faced a crisis of survival. Although Jaina had agreed to come to their aid, Rhonin had little confidence in his fellow apprentice. Quel'Thalas was not the only nation planning to move against Dalaran; Kul Tiras was involved as well. Caught between Kul Tiras and the Kirin Tor, Jaina was in a difficult position.

Not only Modera, but Khadgar and Kalyne also joined Rhonin's party, hoping to preserve one last hope for Dalaran.

Rommath stood aboard the Aircraft Carrier, looking at Dalaran amid the clouds. This was the city where he had lived for centuries, where he and Kael'thas had spent hundreds of years together. Yet this very city, for which Rommath held such deep feelings, had driven him and the other High Elves into irreconcilable enmity.

Perhaps this was what they meant when they said that the deeper the love, the deeper the hatred.

"Prince Kael'thas, Lord Patrick, the Kirin Tor of Dalaran requests an audience with us." Rommath had already received Rhonin's message. This Magical Letter bearing the mark of the Violet Eye was the Kirin Tor's highest-level correspondence. It could not possibly be a forgery.

"What do you think?" Kael'thas looked at Patrick, asking his opinion.

"We might as well meet them. There are at least a few questions I need answered too." Patrick looked unperturbed. Dalaran could no longer escape, even if it grew wings. He might as well let them die with their questions answered.

"Aren't you worried they're stalling for time?" Kael'thas did not seem particularly inclined to meet those old acquaintances. "Could they be waiting for reinforcements, or looking for a chance to escape?"

Patrick understood the principle that even nations at war did not kill envoys.
