Chapter 17: Another experiment
Recalling the [Mutated Stone]'s functions, Qi Jun formed a rough guess.
To get a clear sense of this change, Qi Jun began experimenting again.
After shutting all the doors and windows and drawing the curtains, Qi Jun switched on the only old air conditioner in his "new home."
It was old and noisy, but it definitely still worked!
First, he set the temperature to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, or zero degrees Celsius.
As time passed, Qi Jun noticed that the thermometer's reading kept dropping, yet he felt no change in temperature!
Frowning, Qi Jun began touching everything in the room. This time, however, he could feel the cold surfaces of all the objects through touch.
Qi Jun felt somewhat reassured, knowing that his sense of touch was still normal.
Then Qi Jun set the air conditioner to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, or forty degrees Celsius, and opened the doors and windows to raise the indoor temperature quickly. After that, he shut the doors and windows tightly and waited again.
As time passed, the thermometer's reading rose rapidly. Just as before, Qi Jun still felt no warmth at all. He could still feel that his body was at an absolutely comfortable temperature, which did not change along with the temperature in the room.
Then Qi Jun began touching the objects in the room.
Sure enough, as he touched them, Qi Jun's fingertips clearly felt warmth, even a slight hotness.
Finally, Qi Jun began running and jumping around the room.
As a part-time homebody with little athletic ability, even simple running and jumping could quickly leave him exhausted and drenched in sweat.
But!

But!
This time, by carefully sensing what was happening, Qi Jun finally discovered that although he had exhausted himself until he was drenched in sweat and his internal temperature had risen rapidly,
somehow, that temperature soon returned to its pre-exercise state.
