Faced with the sudden confession, Tsunade froze for a moment, then burst into peals of laughter.
After laughing, she flicked her finger, giving Anyo a hard knock on the forehead.
"You little brat, you haven't even grown any hair yet, and you're already thinking about chasing women. Even if you want to, this isn't how you do it. Your injuries seem to be mostly healed, so that's enough treatment for today."
With that, Tsunade left without looking back, leaving Anyo looking bewildered, still unable to process what had happened.
White Fang stepped forward and said coldly, "Serves you right."
Anyo shook his slightly dizzy head and couldn't help asking, "Is chasing women wrong?"
White Fang cut straight to the heart of the matter. "Chasing women isn't wrong. Having ulterior motives is."
"How was I..." Anyo wanted to defend himself, but under White Fang's all-seeing gaze, he gave up.
White Fang sounded exasperated with him. "You're so young. How do you already have so many little schemes? Tsunade could have healed you completely today. Tomorrow, you could have started training and tried to recapture the feeling of that slash of yours. And now? You've wasted time for nothing."
Fine, White Fang was right. When he was wrong, he had to admit it. Anyo took the lesson to heart. Next time, he would at least wait until his treatment was finished before confessing. Being left in limbo like this really was uncomfortable.
Just then, a medical ninja came in and said, "Lady Tsunade just left instructions, Lord White Fang. Your student's condition has stabilized, and he can be transferred to a general ward."
Well, she really is a woman. That retaliation came fast.
After being transferred to the general ward, Anyo looked at the group of ninjas groaning in pain around him without a shred of sympathy. Bored out of his mind, he lay on the bed and watched the white clouds in the sky. Sigh, forget it. I'll get some proper sleep.
Meanwhile, White Fang had arrived at the Third's office to report on the mission.
The Third apparently had complete confidence in White Fang and showed no surprise upon receiving word that the mission had been completed.
White Fang, however, hesitated.
Noticing something unusual about him, the Third asked, "What is it?"
After considering it for a moment, White Fang decided to tell the truth. "Actually, Anyo killed all those Sand ninja by himself. I didn't do anything."
"What?" the Third exclaimed in shock. "You mean you never intervened from beginning to end?"
White Fang nodded. "That's right."
"How is that possible?" The Third found it hard to believe, but seeing White Fang's serious expression and knowing his character, he had no choice but to accept it. His tone turned grave. "Tell me exactly what happened during this mission."
After White Fang finished, the Third slowly digested the entire account. A long while later, he sighed. "An extraordinary talent. It seems your assessment of him was right. His potential really does exceed yours. In that case, the burden on your shoulders is even heavier. You must guide him well."
White Fang replied solemnly, "Yes."
After White Fang left, the Third gazed pensively toward the hospital where Anyo was staying and murmured in a voice only he could hear, "I hope he won't be the next Madara Uchiha."
When Anyo woke and opened his eyes, a clean-cut male face suddenly came into view.
Seeing that Anyo was awake, the man smiled slightly. "You're awake. I'm here to treat you."
Anyo reflexively thanked him. He didn't dare offend a medical ninja now, especially one who had taken the initiative to come and treat him. After all, war had already broken out, and medical ninjas were in the shortest supply.
Unexpectedly, this ninja's Medical Ninjutsu was excellent. Anyo's somewhat stiff body soon regained its vitality, and even his somewhat flagging mind felt more energized. How did he do that?
Anyo looked at the unfamiliar ninja in surprise. He had long, pale blue hair and features as delicate as a woman's. Who was he?
Seeing Anyo sit up, he asked, "Feeling better?"
"Much better, thank you. My name's Anyo. What's yours?" Anyo asked curiously.
The man smiled. "Hello, Anyo. My name is Dan Katō. You can just call me Dan."
Dan Katō? Doesn't ring a bell. A medical ninja this skilled couldn't possibly have never appeared later. Most likely, he ended up dead. What a shame.
After introducing himself, Dan Katō suddenly noticed the regret in Anyo's eyes and couldn't help asking in puzzlement, "Are you still feeling unwell somewhere?"
Anyo came back to his senses. "I'm much better now. I can get out of bed and walk. Let me buy you a meal to thank you."
Dan Katō declined with a smile. "There's no need. I still have a lot of patients to treat."
Anyo refused to give up. Looking determined to express his gratitude no matter what, he said, "There's no rush. I'll wait for you."
Dan Katō could only nod. "All right."
While he waited, Anyo began moving his body, doing rehabilitation exercises.
It wasn't until the sun was setting in the west that Dan Katō emerged from the ward, drenched in sweat. He was clearly exhausted.
Anyo hurried forward to support him. "You don't have to push yourself this hard. There are plenty of other medical ninjas in the hospital."
Dan Katō smiled. "Everyone's working hard."
What a good person. Although Anyo wasn't a good person himself, he still hoped there would be more good people in this world. He quickly said, "Come on, let's hurry and get you something to eat to build your strength back up."
Of course, their destination was once again Ichiraku Ramen. After all, Anyo couldn't afford the other restaurants yet. He had almost used up the survivor benefits left by his parents. Even if White Fang hadn't taken him on this mission, he would have applied for one himself. At that moment, he was even wondering where Naruto, who had grown up alone, had gotten his money and how he had survived.
Although it was already evening, the ramen shop was still doing good business, and the two had to wait in line for a while before their turn came.
Anyo generously ordered a bowl of ramen with all the meat toppings for Dan Katō, while getting himself an ordinary bowl. The man had saved his life, after all, so showing some gratitude was necessary.
When Dan Katō saw their bowls of ramen, he was visibly surprised. Pointing at Anyo's bowl, he said, "Let's swap. You're still young. You need more meat to grow."
Anyo waved a hand and immediately slurped up a mouthful of noodles. "No need. You've been working all day. You need to replenish your strength. One bowl of noodles is just enough to fill me up. I couldn't eat any more."
"All right." It had to be said that Anyo's actions had left Dan Katō with quite a favorable impression of him.
As they ate and chatted, Anyo asked with feigned casualness, "By the way, I feel like your Medical Ninjutsu is a little different from everyone else's. How does your Medical Ninjutsu even restore my mental energy?"
Dan Katō, who had been eating his noodles, paused briefly and looked at Anyo in surprise. "I didn't expect you to be so sensitive to your own mental state. Most people can't feel it. I suppose this counts as an ability unique to me. Ever since I was little, I've been able to see my own soul, so I've always practiced controlling it. During one treatment, I fully mastered how to use my soul, and I could attach chakra to it to produce different effects. I used this technique when I treated you just now. I call this ninjutsu the Spirit Transformation Technique."
"What?" Anyo's heart pounded wildly. There's a ninjutsu this absurd in Naruto? How did I not know? If that's the case, his soul can save people, so naturally it can kill people too. Wouldn't that make it the perfect choice for assassination?
