Naruto hid his real body among his clones, eight figures running continuously as they searched for an opening in Minato's defenses.
One shadow clone launched the first attack from behind Minato. Minato turned with a flying kick and followed through, trying to break out of the encirclement.
"Haha, you fell for it."
Naruto's first shadow clone had only been a feint, luring Minato into breaking through there. The other shadow clones were already prepared and attacked together along the route Minato had to take.
Several of Naruto's shadow clones leaped into the air together, holding hands to form tightly packed circles. Then they thrust out their short little legs, delivering flying kicks one after another and raising the real Naruto high into the air in a spiral.
A shadow clone below seized the opening and kicked high into Minato's neck, sending his whole body airborne.
Watching from above, Rock Lee froze. He had never imagined that a simple spar with Sasuke would lead not only to Sasuke copying his move, but to Naruto using it now as well.
Several Narutos attacked in succession in midair. When they kicked Minato's body to its highest point, the real Naruto, who had been waiting, delivered a final vicious downward sweep of his leg.
"Naruto Barrage!"
The short combo sent Minato crashing heavily to the ground with a dull thud.
"Nice work, Naruto!" Sakura couldn't help cheering.
"Haha!" Naruto laughed happily at Sakura.
"You can't let your guard down before you're sure you've won." A voice rang out above Naruto.
The Minato who had been knocked to the ground turned into a wooden board. The real one was hidden directly above Naruto and threw a shuriken down at him.
Startled, Naruto hurriedly dodged and cried out in frustration, "Damn it, a Substitution Technique!"
