Breakfast finally ended in a peculiar atmosphere.
Whether breakfast was too hot or too delicious, Kanzaki Kumo grimaced his way through it.
It certainly had nothing to do with Makomo secretly pinching Kanzaki Kumo's waist the whole time. Absolutely not (certainty.jpg)!
It did not actually hurt that much. Makomo was only a little embarrassed and annoyed, and would not use much force. Kanzaki Kumo's exaggerated reaction was just him playing along, while also keeping the others from looking at Makomo too much.
Once breakfast ended and everyone went their separate ways, Makomo even rubbed the spot she had pinched on Kanzaki Kumo's waist, only leaving after making sure she had not accidentally used too much force.
Before she left, though, Kanzaki Kumo took advantage of there being no one around to launch a sneak attack, planting a kiss on her lips before letting her go.
Afterward, Kanzaki Kumo headed to the clearing where he trained every day.
After Makomo's "comfort" last night, he felt somewhat lighter. It was not that a burden had been lifted, but that his outlook had changed.
Sometimes, a change of mindset was just that simple.
An embrace to lean on, a chance to empty one's mind and body, let exhaustion wash over them, then release and dispel it-that alone could change a person's state of mind.
At that moment, Kanzaki Kumo's heart felt more settled than ever before.
The threat from Muzan was still there, and the gap in strength between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan remained enormous, but Kanzaki Kumo no longer felt anxious or uneasy.
He did not quite understand the root of this change himself. He simply felt that he had gained a measure of inner assurance.
He still wanted to shoulder the danger himself and keep the people around him
