The red encrypted phone rang suddenly in the empty President’s Office office.
Stan Edgar didn't pick it up immediately.
He looked at the loss report on the table about the new batch of emotionally out-of-control super children, tapped his fingers twice on the solid wood table, took a deep breath, and then picked up the receiver.
"Lynn."
Edgar's voice was still steady, "Did Long Island Estate's glass break again so quickly?"
"The engineering team's workmanship is very good, and the bulletproof glass can't even let in a breath of wind."
Lynn smiled on the other end of the phone. In the background, you could still vaguely hear the noise of Tommy and Reggie snatching snacks. "I'm looking for you because of other things. I need someone."
Edgar narrowed his eyes slightly. "Who."
"Black Noir."
Lynn's tone was very casual, as if he was borrowing a lawnmower from his neighbor.
"John's physical fitness has reached the standard, but the way he fights is too ugly. I need a teacher who is proficient in killing techniques and fighting skills to teach him how to use force. Black Noir is the most suitable candidate. Let him pack his luggage and move to Long Island to live permanently."
The office fell into dead silence for ten seconds.
Edgar is a businessman who always puts interests first, but Lynn's request is almost like cutting Vought International's main artery with a knife.
"This is impossible, Lynn."
Edgar refused very simply,
"After those Payback losers died in the sewer, the company is now in a vacuum period of combat power. The newly recruited Superpower people outside are all uncontrollable semi-finished products. Black Noir is the only one that the company can use at present., and the most reliable cleaner, he needs to deal with many dirty jobs that are not visible to the public, as well as those experimental subjects that are out of control. If he even goes to Long Island as a nanny, Vought International's deterrent power in the underground world will be completely reduced to an empty shell."
Lynn was leaning on the leather chair in the study room, playing with a pen in his hand.
Of course he knows that the current Vought International is strong on the outside but weak on the inside, and he also knows that Edgar is frantically working on those assembly-line-like plans to recreate super children in Basement.
"President, you don't have to cry to me about poverty."
Lynn changed into a comfortable position and said, "You know that your defective products forcibly brainwashed by behavioral psychology will cause big troubles sooner or later. No matter how powerful Black Noir is, he is also a veteran who is about to retire. If any high-risk experimental subject really goes crazy, how many people do you think his knife can still kill?"
Edgar was silent.
Because Lynn hit his biggest pain point.
"Let's make a deal."
Lynn did not continue to exert pressure, but offered a bargaining chip that the capitalists could not refuse.
"Let Black Noir come over. In exchange, if the assembly line products in your Basement get out of control in the future, or the company encounters trouble that even the military can't handle, you can call me."
Lynn looked out the window at the blond boy running wildly on Lawn, his tone was calm and determined,
"I will let John help you burn those troubles into ashes. Not only will there be no trace left, but he will also ensure that he will wear that perfect smile throughout the process, and help you increase the company's stock by a few percentage points."
Edgar's breathing paused slightly.
This account is too good to settle.
One is a silent killer who is getting older and can only carry out assassination missions in secret;
The other is to have the power of a god, to be worshiped by thousands of people under the sun, and to act as the ultimate ace in nuclear deterrence.
Using Black Noir in exchange for John's promise to take action is a sure-fire deal for Vought International, who is in urgent need of time and stability to reshape the hero team.
"I will ask Public Relations Department to send an internal announcement announcing that Black Noir has entered long-term closed training."
Edgar closed his eyes to cover up the emotions in his eyes, "Before three o'clock in the afternoon, he will appear at the door of Long Island Estate with his things."
"A pleasure to work with."
Lynn hung up the phone without saying any more nonsense.
Two hours later.
Vought Tower is a special security dormitory area fifty floors underground.
There is no sunshine here all year round, and the lights in the corridor are so dim that it makes people feel depressed.
The door Iron Gate at the end of the corridor was pushed open from the outside, and Madelyn walked in wearing high heels.
There was no light on in the room, only a small desk lamp in the corner emitted a faint yellow light.
Black Noir is wearing that black battle suit and sitting cross-legged on the bed.
There was a small piece of wood in front of him that had not yet been carved. He was holding a sharp special carving knife in his hand and was concentrating on scraping the wood chips.
"The company has new instructions."
Madelyn looked at this silent killer with complicated eyes.
She was a little afraid of Black Noir, because this person had no voice or expression, and no one knew what kind of emotions were hidden under the black mask.
Black Noir stopped what he was doing and slowly raised his head.
"Edgar President personally issued the order."
Madelyn took out a document with a red seal and put it on the table, "From today on, your staff will be officially classified as Vanguard Camp. Pack your personal belongings and a special car will take you to Long Island Estate to report. Your new task is to serve as John's fighting coach and concurrently as Manor's security guard."
Madelyn originally thought that Black Noir would be a little resistant. After all, this is his hometown, and leaving the headquarters to work as a sparring partner for a few brats, it looks like a disguised exile.
But Black Noir just looked at the document quietly for two seconds.
Then he stood up very quickly.
He didn't look at the guns of various calibers hanging on the wall, nor did he pick up the heavy weapons stained with blood.
He just pulled out a black canvas travel bag from under the bed, carefully put a few carving knives on the table, a few pieces of fine wood, and a pile of paper and paint on the side.
Finally, he took out an old stuffed bear from under his pillow, patted the dust on it, and solemnly stuffed it into the deepest part of his travel bag.
After zipping up, Black Noir threw the bag over his shoulder, passed directly over Madelyn who was still in a daze, and strode out of the cold and damp dormitory.
His steps were very long, and there was even a sense of briskness that was hard to detect.
Madelyn looked at the empty room and stretched his hair uncomfortably.
She suddenly felt that this murderous monster seemed to be looking forward to working as a nanny at Long Island...
Just after three o'clock in the afternoon.
Long Island Estate's Iron Gate There was a slight sound of braking outside.
Lynn was standing in the kitchen, pouring cut potato cubes into the iron pot stewed with beef. Hearing the noise, he wiped his hands on his apron and turned to look out the window.
A black Vought International car was parked on the roadside, and Black Noir was holding the black canvas bag and standing quietly outside the gate.
The sun shone on his black uniform, making it look a little out of place.
But he did not hide in the shadows like before, but stood in the sun, looking through the iron fence at Buddy who was rolling on Lawn in the yard, and the children who were splashing water on each other.
John was the first to notice the movement at the door.
He stopped what he was doing and turned his head to look at the man in black outside the door.
Lynn opened the door and walked out.
"Reggie, go and open the door."
Lynn shouted to Lawn, "Your new coach has arrived."
