Background

In his previous life, Yecheng was a college student who drowned while attempting to rescue a woman. He reincarnated into the world of Naruto with his memories intact, became a war orphan, and was brought to Konoha by village ninja 1.

Yakushi Nonō raised him at the orphanage, where he helped care for and discipline the other children. Despite unusually fast wound healing, he remained chronically ill. When Nonō warned that he might not survive past fifteen, he insisted on entering the Ninja Academy and seeking Tsunade’s treatment. Nonō gave him the use of her village house so he could attend school 1 4.

His knowledge of the original story initially guides his plans, but he later recognizes that his interference has changed events. Danzo’s move against Nonō occurs earlier than expected, warning him not to trust the original timeline’s details blindly 32.

Appearance

  • White hair: His most immediately recognizable feature; Hiruzen associates his appearance with an earlier white-haired prodigy 4.
  • Pale-blue eyes: His eyes change to a clear, pale blue after he activates the Six Eyes card 2.
  • Sickly complexion: His congenital illness leaves him pale and frequently unwell during childhood 1.
  • Handsome features: His appearance attracts immediate attention from the girls in Class 1-A 6.

Personality

Yecheng is protective and unwilling to accept cruelty as normal. He intervenes when Hinata is bullied, shares food with the isolated Naruto, and challenges classmates who ridicule Naruto’s dream of becoming Hokage. His encouragement also extends to rivals: after defeating Sasuke, he praises his potential rather than humiliating him 1 3 7 17 34.

His kindness coexists with calculated self-preservation. He deliberately seeks influential allies, conceals abilities that might attract Danzo, and arranges his apprenticeship partly to secure protection. Against established enemies, he is willing to ambush, kill, and exploit their remains for practical advantage 6 8 16 23 25 44.

Although the card system rewards relationships, he realizes that casual acquaintance is less valuable than becoming a genuine companion. He also remains diligent despite his exceptional talent, treating repeated practice as necessary to turn newly learned techniques into reliable combat skills 8 29 30.

Abilities & Skills

Fate Card Draw System

Yecheng earns Fate Points by taking actions that change his predetermined fate, particularly through relationships with influential people 2 6.

  • Draw costs: One draw costs 10 points; a ten-pull costs 100 and guarantees a purple card 2 3.
  • Card effects: Cards grant physical enhancements, chakra, techniques, equipment, and practical expertise 8 25 30.
  • Cross-world adaptation: Cursed Energy Cards become chakra, while imported techniques operate through the local chakra system 8 10.
  • Plundered cards: Killing enemy ninja can yield cards containing their abilities and knowledge 25 44.
  • Lifespan display: The system tracks changes to his expected lifespan; it is not presented as his current age 1 6 48.

Six Eyes

The Six Eyes underpin his combat style, learning speed, and medical precision 2 36 38.

  • Provide blind-spot-free, 360-degree vision, exceptional dynamic vision, and perception of internal energy flow 2.
  • Read chakra circulation and muscle movements to anticipate attacks 13.
  • Enable extremely fine chakra control and sharply reduced technique expenditure 2 23.
  • Allow him to reproduce observed techniques, including Hyuga pressure-point methods and Uchiha Manipulated Shurikenjutsu 17 38.
  • Support a photographic memory and rapid absorption of medical knowledge 21 23.
  • Initially overwhelm him with information; even after adaptation, his body cannot always keep pace with what he perceives 2 32.

Ten Shadows Technique

Ten Shadows lets Yecheng summon shikigami and use shadows as concealed spaces. Additional shikigami must be defeated through subjugation before he can command them 8 10 23.

Shikigami Applications Acquisition
Divine Dog: Black Main offensive member of his initial shikigami formation 10. Granted with Ten Shadows 10.
Divine Dog: White Information gathering 10. Granted with Ten Shadows 10.
Toad Restrains targets and supports other summons 20. Subdued with Jellyfish Moon and the Divine Dogs 20.
Great Serpent Large-scale restraint and surprise attacks from an enemy’s shadow 20 23. Subdued using coordinated shikigami attacks and reinforced punches 20.
Max Elephant Produces water capable of dispersing insect swarms and countering Rabbit Escape 33 42. Defeated by Yecheng alone 33.
Rabbit Escape Creates numerous duplicates for obstruction and battlefield interference 20 42. Subdued with Max Elephant 33.
Nue Flight and lightning attacks 38 42. Restrained with shuriken and wire, then defeated with Fire Release 38.
Round Deer Heals injuries and bloodline-disease damage through adapted Reverse Cursed Technique 48. Overwhelmed by combined fire and lightning attacks 47.
  • Shadow concealment: He hides within shadows and uses them to approach or ambush targets 23 27.
  • Shadow storage: He stores Ryoma’s remains in his Shadow Space and incorporates connected shadow spaces into his insect pagoda 44.
  • Unsubdued prospects: Piercing Ox, Tiger Funeral, and Mahoraga are discussed as future possibilities, not demonstrated acquisitions 10 20.

Jellyfish Moon

Jellyfish Moon is a separately acquired shikigami, rather than one of the Ten Shadows summons 10.

  • Controls opponents and inflicts sustained poison damage 10.
  • Can serve as close-fitting protective armor 10.
  • Helps restrain and defeat shikigami during subjugation 20.

Reinforcement, Monster Strength, and Yang Release Chakra Mode

Yecheng adapts Cursed Energy Reinforcement into a chakra-based method of strengthening his body. Tsunade’s Monster Strength later gives him substantially greater striking power 10 32.

  • Reinforcement: Improves physical capabilities and supports daily conditioning 10.
  • Monster Strength: Concentrates transformed chakra into devastating blows; his first successful punch destroys an ironwood training post 32.
  • Yang Release Chakra Mode: Combines bodily reinforcement with distributed Monster Strength chakra. He uses it with Playful Cloud to finish Ryoma 32 38 42.
  • Endurance limitation: Early in his development, his low reserves prevent him from sustaining his strongest combinations for long 10 20.

Medical Ninjutsu and Regeneration

Yecheng combines fine chakra control, rapid study, and Tsunade’s instruction to become an unusually capable medical apprentice 15 21 29.

  • Masters Chakra Scalpel after brief practice 15.
  • Learns foundational healing-oriented Yang Release and restores a dying fish 29.
  • Uses Six Eyes and Chakra Scalpel to remove the Raikage’s Explosive Insect larva almost instantly and without pain 36 37.
  • Receives medicine from Tsunade to replenish life force and ease his bloodline illness 21.
  • Benefits from Round Deer’s healing, but is not shown independently mastering Reverse Cursed Technique 48.

Shikotsumyaku Constitution

His Six Eyes examination links his illness to Shikotsumyaku: abnormal bone activity destroys nearby cells, forcing constant replacement and exhausting his body 2.

  • Grants a stronger constitution, taijutsu aptitude, and rapid wound recovery 13 20 32.
  • Remains incompletely awakened; he has not demonstrated bone weapons in the supplied chapters 32 48.
  • Round Deer’s treatment relieves the resulting damage and stimulates activity within his bone marrow 48.

Other Ninjutsu and Intelligence Skills

  • Basic ninjutsu: Transformation, Substitution, Clone, and Shadow Clone; he can perform the Three Basic Techniques without seals but initially hides this 8 15.
  • Elemental transformations: Possesses fire, water, lightning, and earth alongside Yin and Yang Release. Wind remains missing 44.
  • Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique and Great Dragon Fire Technique 25 47.
  • Earth Release: A-rank Swamp of the Underworld, used to restrain and engulf targets 44.
  • Crow techniques: Learns Scatter Thousand Crows and crow handling from Aoba; obtains Black Bird Manipulation for shared vision and communication 30 31.
  • Curtain: Obtains a barrier technique capable of concealing unusual activity from outsiders 30.
  • Code Decryption: Inherits knowledge of intelligence encryption and decryption from Ryoma’s cards 44.

Craftsmanship and Cooking

  • Toolmaking: Juzo Kumiya’s Craftsmanship supplies experience in creating cursed tools from bodies and resentment. Yecheng intends to adapt it into ninja-tool development 30.
  • Cooking: Retains skills developed during college and while feeding orphanage children; Six Eyes improve his precision with ingredients and seasoning 19.
  • Commercial recipes: Develops milk tea that becomes popular in Konoha and negotiates business terms with Shikaku 47 49.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Playful Cloud: A black-and-red special-grade cursed tool that functions as a staff or chained three-section staff. It makes each blow deliver the wielder’s strongest strike; Yecheng pairs it with his enhanced physical power 30 42.
  • Kikaichū-breeding pagoda: A ten-level tool made from Ryoma’s remains, crafting expertise, and connected shadow spaces. It houses chakra-consuming insects without turning Yecheng’s own body into a hive 44.
  • Kikaichū Breeding Manual: A purple item card obtained from Ryoma, providing the knowledge behind his insect-breeding project 44.
  • Ten ninja crows: Supplied by Aoba Yamashiro alongside instruction in their care 31.
  • Explosive kikaichū larvae: Two larvae given to him by Shibi Aburame 45.
  • Shuriken and wire: Used for interception, manipulated projectile attacks, and restricting Nue during subjugation 38 42.

Relationships

  • Yakushi Nonō — Guardian and closest family figure, whom he also regards as an older sister. He works to protect her from Danzo’s manipulation 1 14 27 32.
  • Tsunade — Teacher, physician, and protector. She recognizes him as a successor capable of inheriting her full legacy; he campaigns to make her Hokage 16 21 32 37 44.

  • Naruto Uzumaki — Close friend. Yecheng feeds him, rescues him, defends his ambitions, and arranges taijutsu training with Might Guy 3 4 7 38.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi — Patron who notices his talent, resists Danzo’s recruitment attempt, and recommends him to Tsunade 4 9 16.
  • Kabuto Yakushi — Shadow recruit tasked with remaining inside Root and gathering evidence against Danzo. Their alliance centers on protecting Nonō and opposing Danzo 23 27.
  • Shisui Uchiha — Rescued ally and Shadow subordinate, though initially more reserved than Yecheng’s other recruits 42 44.
  • Neji Hyuga — Initially an opponent; Yecheng earns his gratitude by arranging the return of Hizashi’s remains 40 44.
  • Danzo Shimura — Mortal enemy. His attempts to control Yecheng and threaten the orphanage drive Yecheng’s search for protection and his operations against Root 9 14 32 42.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Escaping a Predetermined Death

Saving Hinata triggers Yecheng’s first Fate Point reward. His first draw grants Six Eyes, allowing him to identify the mechanism behind his illness. He then befriends Naruto and attracts Hiruzen’s attention through his exceptional chakra control 1 2 3 4.

At the Academy, defending Naruto earns enough points for a ten-pull. The resulting abilities transform him from a sickly beginner into a versatile shikigami fighter, but his closeness to Naruto also makes him a target for Danzo, who wants indirect influence over the jinchūriki 7 8 9 10.

Tsunade’s Apprenticeship and Shadow

Tsunade accepts him after seeing his Chakra Scalpel. Her protection allows him to train more openly, and he moves into her home while studying medicine and improving his summons 15 16 19 20 21.

He subsequently ambushes and kills the Root operative who threatened him, discovers that enemies can yield Fate Cards, and recruits Kabuto into Shadow. Kabuto’s assignment is to collect evidence that Danzo’s political rivals can use against him 23 25 27.

Building Support for Tsunade

Yecheng negotiates treatment of the Raikage in exchange for fifty million ryō, ten Lightning Release techniques, the Heavenly Transfer Technique, and Hizashi Hyuga’s remains. His original demand for Lightning Release Chakra Mode is refused 36.

He uses the agreement to cultivate ties with the Aburame and Hyuga clans, while sharing credit with Kakashi. These efforts form part of his plan to build support for Tsunade as Hokage 37 40.

Confronting Root and Extending His Life

Yecheng intervenes in Ryoma’s pursuit of Shisui, kills the Root Jōnin, and recruits Shisui into Shadow. Ryoma’s cards and remains then become resources for further elemental training and the insect-breeding pagoda 42 44.

After subduing Round Deer, he receives treatment that raises his displayed lifespan from 17 to 60. This is the largest documented improvement in his struggle against the bloodline disease 47 48.

Village Business Ventures

Alongside training, Yecheng expands his commercial activities through milk tea and a casino venture with the Yamanaka Clan. The casino is intended to keep Tsunade entertained in Konoha; he secretly bets against her losing wagers and acquires half its shares 47 49.
