On the road, Ren Wuyang sat in the passenger seat with a pile of snacks in his arms and his cheeks stuffed full.
"Zijin! This chestnut cake is delicious. Try some!" Ren Wuyang brought the chestnut cake straight to Gu Zijin's lips. "Zijin, open up. I'll feed you."
Keeping his eyes on the road, Gu Zijin obediently opened his mouth. When he closed it, his teeth accidentally caught Ren Wuyang's thumb.
Ren Wuyang paid no attention to his finger being bitten-or perhaps he simply didn't care-and only waited eagerly for Gu Zijin's answer. "How is it? Is it good?"
"Mm, it's pretty good." Since Ren Wuyang didn't mention it, Gu Zijin wouldn't bring it up either.
Ren Wuyang took another piece from the paper bag. "Want more? I'll feed you another."
Just as he was about to reach over and feed Gu Zijin the chestnut cake, the sight of the whole pastry suddenly reminded Ren Wuyang that he had already taken a bite of the piece he had just fed him.
"Oh, sorry! I'd already bitten the one I just gave you."
Gu Zijin's grip on the steering wheel tightened, but his expression barely changed. "It's fine."
Since Gu Zijin didn't mind, there was no need for him to dwell on it. Ren Wuyang put it out of his mind and continued feeding him. "This one's whole. Open up. I'll feed it to you."
The pastry was actually a little dry, and Gu Zijin wanted some water now. But Ren Wuyang had already brought it to his lips, so however little he liked it, Gu Zijin still opened his mouth and ate it.
