"I hope you'll listen carefully at the next meeting instead of zoning out. Understood?"

The pressure from his fingertips gradually increased. Although Solomon had Super-Speed Healing and had nothing to fear from this little pressure, he still pretended to be nervous, swallowed, and answered respectfully:

"Understood, Homelander. I won't let my mind wander next time."

But Homelander did not let go. Instead, he gently stroked Solomon's neck with his gloved hand. The gesture was strange and intimate, making goosebumps rise all over Solomon.

Did this guy have some kind of fetish for other people's necks?

Solomon grumbled inwardly, but kept a nervous, obedient look on his face.

"I previously gave Translucent a few things to do. Now that he's dead and you've taken his place, you'll finish those things for him."

Homelander lowered his head and leaned close to Solomon's ear, quietly explaining the assignment in a voice only the two of them could hear.

When he finished, he patted Solomon's shoulder, his tone carrying a measure of trust:

"I believe you can do a good job. Remember to report to me every day."

With that, Homelander turned and walked back to the floor-to-ceiling windows. He waved a hand, his tone casual:

"All right, you can go."

Solomon hurriedly stood up and strode out of the conference room, returning to his private quarters. The moment he stepped inside, he could not help letting out a helpless sigh.

The assignment Homelander had given him was utterly ridiculous.

He was supposed to wander around Vought Tower naked and invisible, eavesdropping on every department's secrets, especially listening for anyone bad-mouthing Homelander behind his back.

Not only did he have to eavesdrop in the other superheroes' apartments, he also had to stake out the men's and women's restrooms, focusing on Queen Maeve, A-Train, Starlight, and The Deep.

As for Black Noir, Homelander had not mentioned him at all.

Solomon instantly figured out why. Black Noir couldn't fucking talk. Listening in on him would be a complete waste of time!

"Fuck!"

Solomon could not help cursing under his breath.

He finally understood why the previous Translucent had been such a pervert. Homelander had trained him to be that way!

He also finally understood why Translucent's seat had been the first on the right. Queen Maeve had secured her position through strength, while Translucent had earned that distinction entirely by snitching to Homelander.

Hah, fuck eavesdropping. Whoever wanted to do it could go right ahead!

Solomon sneered inwardly. Once he turned invisible, no one would know where he was anyway. He could do whatever he wanted!

Homelander wasn't worth shit!

If he asked later, I'd just say I hadn't heard or found anything.

I wasn't going to be a pervert!

The most important thing right now was to go to Ashley's office and get the files on all the Supes.

Solomon gathered his thoughts, turned invisible again, and silently left his quarters, heading toward Ashley's office.

Inside Ashley's office, documents were piled high. She was buried in a mass of work, without even a moment to look up.

Solomon stood to one side, watching her struggle to find even enough time for a sip of water, and could not help reflecting inwardly.

There was probably no one at Vought International busier than Ashley.

A born beast of burden-that probably described people like Ashley.

A true world-class legend at taking pressure.

Although Solomon had not watched the entire plot of The Boys, he knew that Ashley, that legendary pressure-taker, had stayed alive from beginning to end.

At least until he had transmigrated here, she had still been gritting her teeth and hanging on at Vought International, serving the mercurial Homelander.

He genuinely admired people like her. Lasting this long around Homelander without having her head crushed on the spot was a miracle in itself.

"Ashley, the Supe files I asked for."

Solomon spoke calmly, interrupting Ashley's work.

Ashley looked up at him, a barely perceptible trace of exhaustion flashing in her eyes. After pausing for two seconds, she casually took a USB drive out of a drawer and handed it over, her tone hurried and dismissive:

"Here are the files you wanted. Take them back and read them yourself. I'm far too busy to spare any time."

Solomon took the USB drive without another word.

He could also see that Ashley really was busy. Asking anything more would only cause extra trouble.

He turned and quickly left the office, returning straight to his apartment and plugging the USB drive into his computer.

The computer screen lit up, and files on one Supe after another loaded.

Solomon moved his fingertips, quickly browsing through them, but the more he read, the deeper his frown grew.

These were indeed Supe files, but every one of them was so weak it was outrageous.

There was, for example, the useless ability he had happened to obtain earlier, which only allowed him to levitate three meters off the ground; glowing eyes comparable to shoddy light bulbs; the bizarre ability to fart rainbows; the useless ability to secrete sweet honey; and the worthless ability to grow hair rapidly, only for it to snap with a tug just like ordinary hair.

All sorts of garbage abilities, not one of them useful.

There was not a trace in the files of genuinely powerful Supes like Lamplighter or Stormfront.

Clearly, these files were meant to fob him off.

That said, there was no faulting their level of detail.

Every Supe's department, home address, and ability details were clearly listed, without a single omission.

Solomon made a rough count. There were twenty Supes in total, every one of them an internal employee of Vought International.

He did not immediately go back to confront Ashley. Asking would be pointless anyway. If Ashley dared give him this list, she most likely had the tacit approval of the higher-ups. It might even have been Homelander's or Madelyn's idea.

To obtain files on higher-level, more powerful Supes, he needed greater clearance and status. As he was now, he did not have the standing for that.

Although these twenty Supes had weak abilities, defeating them could still improve his base attributes.

Even a tiny gain was still a gain, better than nothing.

A thought flashed through Solomon's mind. Vought Tower had dedicated training facilities. If he had Ashley gather these twenty people together and defeated them all in one place, wouldn't that save him trouble?

But on second thought, he abandoned the idea.

Although Ashley was an ordinary person, she barely paid any attention to requests from superheroes other than Homelander.

Besides, once he told Ashley, Madelyn would inevitably hear about it, and all of Vought's higher-ups would know.

When it came to privately improving his strength, naturally, the fewer people who knew, the better.

He browsed through the files again and discovered that most of these twenty Supes shared a hobby-clubbing.
