"Don't leave just yet, Diana."
Solomon hurriedly called her back, his tone sincere as he tried to entice her.
"Joining Vought would offer you every advantage and no drawbacks. I promise you, Vought will never become a shackle on your freedom. Besides... when Ares, lurking in the shadows, descends upon the mortal world again, having a few powerful partners beside you would be much better than fighting alone, wouldn't it?"
Diana paused and raised an eyebrow thoughtfully.
Solomon did have a point, but she soon frowned slightly.
"But Ares is already dead. I killed him myself at the end of World War I."
Solomon's expression suddenly grew utterly serious. His smile vanished, and he looked at Diana with a heavy gaze.
"A month ago, I might have believed that a god of war could truly fall for good. But not long ago, when I infiltrated Atlantis in the depths of the ocean, I discovered traces of the Sea God and had a brief clash with him."
At the words "Sea God," Diana's pupils abruptly contracted.
"Against the Sea God, I was overwhelmed in every respect. I couldn't even fight back."
Solomon's voice sounded especially heavy in the howling wind.
"And as a deity on the same level as Poseidon, Ares would certainly be no weaker than him. Diana, I can assure you that what you killed back then was most likely just a physical avatar Ares had sent into the mortal world, or a mere remnant of his soul split off with a wisp of divine power. One day, when the flames of war spread again, he will surely return to the mortal world!"
Solomon's words struck Diana's heart like a heavy hammer.
Her cool face instantly grew deeply grave. Just how devastating had Solomon's power been on this battlefield?
