Homelander cast a cold glance at Solomon, his voice dripping with contempt.
"If you can't even handle something this trivial, you don't deserve to be in The Seven, you useless piece of trash!"
With that, Homelander turned and left without giving Solomon another glance. His heavy Stars and Stripes Cape swept across the floor, leaving a gust in its wake. He slammed the door shut with a bang, making even the walls tremble slightly.
Solomon rubbed his still-aching neck. A curse was about to leave his mouth, but then he remembered Homelander's powerful super hearing and forced it back down, leaving him to curse inwardly.
So much goddamn bullshit every single day. What a fucking pain!
If I weren't afraid of pissing Homelander off now and getting in the way of improving my strength and taking abilities, I'd turn on him right here!
And that damned Maeve. If she hadn't run her mouth, Homelander wouldn't have targeted me or threatened me into spying on her.
Spy on Maeve?
Solomon scoffed, his eyes filled with disdain.
He already had more than enough of his own affairs to handle. Where would he find the time to watch Maeve?
Finding Ezekiel, reading his memories, and tracking down the Compound V came first.
Solomon wasted no more time. He quickly dressed, tidied himself up, and left the apartment, heading straight for the Faith Expo venue.
By now, the expo grounds were beginning to take shape. A huge stage, bright lights, and neatly arranged seats were all in place. Plenty of staff were still busy testing equipment and setting out promotional materials, creating a bustling scene.
Not long after Solomon entered, a young man recognized him. His eyes lit up, and he ran over excitedly, his voice brimming with enthusiasm.
"Translucent! I'm your fan! Could I get a photo with you?"
Solomon didn't refuse. For now, he was still Translucent of The Seven, and maintaining his public image would also reduce unnecessary suspicion.
He nodded and posed for a photo with the fan.
When the nearby staff and others who had arrived early saw this, they gathered around too, excitedly asking for photos. Solomon patiently obliged them one by one.
Only after the crowd gradually dispersed did Solomon find a Vought International staff member and ask in an even tone,
"Where's Ezekiel? I need to talk to him about something."
Not daring to keep him waiting, the staff member hurriedly answered respectfully,
"Mr. Translucent, Mr. Ezekiel is in his private RV, in the rest area behind the stage."
So he is here. With that confirmed, Solomon thanked the staff member and headed straight for the rest area behind the stage. He soon found Ezekiel's RV—a lavishly decorated, enormous vehicle that stood out prominently.
He walked up and knocked lightly on the RV's door.
Ezekiel's impatient voice came from inside.
"Who is it? Can't you see I'm busy?"
A moment later, the RV door swung open, and Ezekiel poked his head out. When he saw Solomon standing at the door, his brows immediately knitted tightly, his eyes filled with wariness and displeasure.
"Translucent? What are you doing here? I'm warning you, tomorrow is my Faith Expo. Vought is paying close attention to this event, so don't mess around here and cause trouble!"
Solomon wasted no words. He stepped forward and shoved Ezekiel back into the RV, followed him inside, then reached behind him to shut the door, his tone icy.
"I have something to discuss with you."
Ezekiel stumbled from the shove, anger instantly surging within him.
But he was wary of Solomon's status and could only suppress his anger. Taking a deep breath, he turned to look at Solomon, his voice stiff.
"Go on, then. What is it? If there's nothing, please leave immediately. I still have to prepare for tomorrow's event."
Solomon walked slowly to Ezekiel's side, reached out, and slung an arm around his shoulders in a show of closeness. A meaningful smile curled his lips.
"Nothing major. I just want you to arrange for me to make an appearance at tomorrow's Faith Expo."
As he spoke, he secretly activated his memory-reading ability, pressing his fingertips slightly harder against Ezekiel's shoulder as he frantically searched his memories, focusing on the location of the hospital where the Compound V had been delivered.
The good news was that he had found the place. The Compound V had been sent to the pediatric intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital.
The bad news was that his memory reading seemed to have been detected.
"Fuck! What are you doing?!"
Ezekiel suddenly shoved Solomon away and clutched his head with both hands, his face deathly pale, his voice filled with pain and shock.
"My head... Something was in my mind just now. All those things about Compound V came flooding up! You can actually read memories?!"
The smile on Solomon's face instantly froze. The person whose memories he read could actually detect it?!
But when I tried it earlier...
Fuck!
After defeating Mesmer earlier, he had tried forcibly reading his memories while he was unconscious. Mesmer hadn't reacted at all, so he had assumed memory reading was silent and completely undetectable.
Damn it!
So the other person could actually sense their memories being read!
Fuck!
Ezekiel found out. What do I do now?
Kill him?
The thought flashed through Solomon's mind, but he quickly rejected it.
He had just walked openly into the expo grounds and taken photos with quite a few people. Many had seen him come looking for Ezekiel.
If Ezekiel was killed here, Homelander would suspect him first. That would only bring greater trouble, making it more trouble than it was worth.
But if he didn't kill him, once Ezekiel told Homelander that he could read memories and was asking about Compound V, his situation would only become more dangerous.
Solomon frowned deeply, his mind racing as he tried to find a solution that would cover both concerns.
Threaten him like Hughie did in the original story?
Forget it. Too much trouble. Better to settle this the most direct way a Supe could.
By now, Ezekiel had recovered from his dizziness, his eyes full of shock, anger, and apprehension.
His arms suddenly stretched wildly like rubber, whipping through the air with fierce gusts as he grabbed viciously at Solomon.
Solomon sighed softly. Not bothering to waste words on him, he activated Super Speed, his body turning into a blur as he appeared in front of Ezekiel in an instant.
Before Ezekiel could react, Solomon clenched his fist. Silvery-white Bone Spikes instantly pierced through his skin and sprang out, flashing coldly as he drove them hard into Ezekiel's eye socket.
Ezekiel had no time to react at all. He only saw a cold glint abruptly swell before his eyes as searing pain swept through his brain. Then his vision went black, and he lost consciousness completely.
