Solomon continued, a hint of helplessness in his voice.

"Just because of what happened last night, he killed me three whole times. The first time, he punched straight through my chest. The second time, he twisted my neck clean through. The third time, he crushed my neck to pulp, and even my head fell off. If I didn't have the ability to heal myself, I'd have died at his hands last night."

He looked up at Maeve, his tone calm.

"So, we're even now. No problem with that, right?"

Maeve lowered her eyes and thought for a moment, the resentment in her heart gradually dissipating.

After weighing the pros and cons, she slowly nodded, stopped dwelling on the past, and turned to leave the apartment.

But when she reached the door, she abruptly stopped. With her back to Solomon, she spoke in a flat voice that betrayed no emotion.

"I heard the people who killed Translucent happened to be hiding in the crowd at the Faith Expo yesterday. Ezekiel had been planning to ask Homelander to deal with them, but Homelander got a phone call at the last minute and suddenly left. They were lucky enough to escape."

Solomon raised an eyebrow slightly, a flicker of surprise crossing his eyes, and chuckled.

"Oh? What a coincidence. They really were lucky, then."

Maeve gave a faint scoff, pushed open the door, and walked away, leaving only a few softly spoken words lingering in the room.

"Perhaps."

The door closed, and silence returned to the room.

The smile instantly vanished from Solomon's face, and his brows knitted tightly.

Had Maeve genuinely meant to make peace by calling things even, or was she merely pretending to let go?

He couldn't be sure.

Still, she probably wouldn't turn around and tell Homelander on him.
