Sno did not turn around, yet he ducked ahead of the strike as though he had eyes in the back of his head.
At the same time, his consciousness sank into the Dark Plane, swiftly calling on a portion of the Great Clock's Computational Power. An invisible torrent of data surged toward the Dark Silver dagger.
He intended to use Computational Power to forcibly sever the connection between Tara and the dagger, claiming the treasure for himself.
The instant the torrent of data struck the Dark Silver dagger, Sno's brows knitted sharply.
His Computational Power vanished into the blade like a clay ox sinking into the sea, and he completely lost contact with it.
An invisible devouring net seemed to cover the dagger's surface. Any outside Computational Power attempting to forcibly analyze or seize it was swallowed whole, without even a feedback signal coming back.
What was going on?
In the fraction of a second he spent stunned, the Dark Silver dagger broke through the entrenching shovel's defenses. Silver flashed, and it plunged into his right shoulder with a wet sound.
The blade sliced through his black robe and flesh. Blood immediately welled out, running down his arm and dripping onto the yellow sand.
Sno grunted and staggered two steps backward, pressing his left hand over the wound in his shoulder as Dark Energy rushed toward it in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
Tara guided the Dark Silver dagger back. Dark red blood stained its silvery-white blade, which gleamed coldly in the sunlight.
He looked at Sno coldly, undisguised mockery in his voice.
"It seems you're not as formidable as I imagined."
At those words, Sno's expression turned utterly grim.
"Don't get too pleased with yourself. I only fell for your trick because I was careless. This time, I won't let my guard down again."
Meanwhile, his consciousness swiftly contacted the two Taotie Warriors through the Dark Communication channel.
"When I engage this man, you two go and take Soton back!"
A Taotie Warrior's voice came through the channel, clearly hesitant.
"My lord, I'm afraid the two of us alone are no match for that man..."
"That's right, my lord."
The other Taotie Warrior chimed in.
"That man is a Third Generation Super Soldier. We'd only be throwing our lives away. There's no way we can take Crocodile God Soton back."
"What's all this nonsense?"
Sno's voice simmered with anger. "I told you to go, so go!"
"If not for My God Karl's orders, I wouldn't want to help you useless fools!"
Seeing that Sno was truly enraged, the two Taotie Warriors dared not say anything more.
They tightened their grips on their energy rifles and steeled themselves as they advanced toward Qin Feng.
Seeing them move, Sno felt slightly relieved.
Of course he knew these two Taotie Warriors could not possibly be Qin Feng's match.
But as long as they could keep him occupied and prevent Sno from having to fight two against one, he was confident he could deal with the big red fellow before him.
After all, he was a veteran with a Third Generation Divine Body and tens of thousands of years of combat experience. He could not possibly lose to some fellow of unknown origins.
The two Taotie Warriors stopped about five meters in front of Qin Feng, raising their guns to point at his chest.
"Hand Soton over right now, or we'll shoot!"
Qin Feng tilted his head as he looked at the two metal shells before him. The corners of his mouth slowly lifted, his eyes holding the amusement of someone watching ants move their nest.
"You really have a death wish."
Red light flashed in his eyes.
Two small shadows rose silently from the sand behind the two Taotie Warriors.
Shrouded in darkness, the Shadow Eaters were almost completely invisible, with only two rows of closely packed sharp teeth gleaming coldly in the shadows.
The next second, they lunged, biting into the shadows the Taotie Warriors cast on the ground.
Both Taotie Warriors froze at once.
Like machines whose power had been cut, their limbs instantly went limp before they crashed to the ground with a thud.
Their energy rifles fell onto the sand and rolled twice, faint residual heat still rising from their muzzles.
Having eaten their fill, the Shadow Eaters smacked their lips in satisfaction and merged back into the shadows.
Sno turned his head and saw the scene, his face behind the mask turning completely dark.
"Useless fools!"
He cursed through gritted teeth.
"You can't even handle something this simple. I have no idea what My God Karl sees in you!"
"You should worry about yourself first."
Tara's voice came from behind him, as cold as shards of ice.
Sno whipped his head around. The Dark Silver dagger was already attacking again.
He instinctively raised his entrenching shovel to block while secretly calling on the Great Clock's Computational Power to analyze the dagger's underlying structure at full capacity.
This time, he finally saw it clearly.
An extraordinarily sophisticated devouring program covered the dagger's surface. Any outside Computational Power was instantly swallowed the moment it touched it.
At this realization, Sno's heart sank.
The only way to break through this devouring program was to overwhelm it with far greater Computational Power until it burst.
Yet his access extended to only a tiny fraction of the Great Clock, nowhere near enough to crush this program.
This meant the other party's Computational Power exceeded what his access allowed him to call upon.
But how could a mere Lost Civilization possess such formidable Computational Power?
Suddenly, an utterly absurd thought flashed through Sno's mind.
Could there be an entire Celestial Computer supporting him?
He immediately gave a disbelieving laugh, wondering whether he had gone mad.
If any random wanderer could have a Celestial Computer, where would that leave the dignity of god-level civilizations like theirs?
"You dare let your mind wander while fighting me?"
Tara growled, his golden slit pupils suddenly lighting up.
His telekinetic attack became an invisible shock wave, sweeping toward Sno together with the Dark Silver dagger.
The force of the shock wave struck precisely at the wrist holding Sno's entrenching shovel, jolting his fingers loose.
The pitch-black, long-handled shovel flew from his grip, spinning before embedding itself in a sand dune three meters away.
Genuine panic finally appeared on Sno's face.
The Dark Silver dagger shot straight toward the point between his brows. Its silvery-white blade was so close that he could even see his own mask reflected in its edge.
Just as the tip came within an inch of his forehead, the Metal Skull ornament on Sno's left arm suddenly flew up and clamped its jaws around the Dark Silver dagger's blade.
Before Sno could breathe a sigh of relief, Tara suddenly appeared right in front of him.
A dark longsword had appeared in his hand at some unknown point, its blade broad and heavy, with dark red patterns engraved along its spine.
Without the slightest pause, Tara raised the longsword overhead and brought it cleaving down at Sno's head!
As the wind from the blade bore down on him, Sno felt the chill of approaching death.
He dared not hold anything back.
"Activate Void Energy shield!"
The instant he spoke, a dark purple energy barrier sprang up before him.
The moment the longsword struck the barrier, a deep, thunderous crash erupted, and purple sparks scattered from the point of impact.
