Deep in the Amazon Rainforest, night quietly fell.
Ryan sat in his tent, the sound of raindrops striking the fabric unusually clear in his ears.
He unzipped the tent's little window and saw nothing but darkness outside.
A few raindrops splashed onto his face. They did not feel cold, but rather warm and damp.
The Amazon night was too quiet, eerie and mysterious.
Ryan dared not look any longer. He quickly pulled back inside and hugged his knees, trying hard to stay calm.
This was his first time truly facing the night alone, and it was nothing like the boyhood adventure he had imagined.
It seemed a little scary.
Actually, he had regretted it as soon as darkness fell.
The cries of howler monkeys, owls, and tree frogs mingled together, making his skin crawl.
Ryan sat there hugging his legs in a daze and took a couple of bites of wild fruit.
The compressed biscuits he had brought had mysteriously disappeared, leaving him with no choice but to find wild fruit to fill his stomach.
What he did not know was that the "Illustrated Wilderness Survival Guide" in his backpack was a counterfeit specially made by Soldier Boy.
As a result, every wild fruit he had gathered by following the book was highly poisonous. Only his powerful constitution had kept him from dying of poisoning.
Of course, to resist the toxins, his super durability had been forced to automatically improve further.
Only a good while later, when the rain stopped, did Ryan begin to feel a little sleepy.
He curled into a ball and forced his eyes shut, but he could not fall asleep no matter what.
Suddenly, he heard a pattering sound. Someone was patting his tent.
"Who's there?" Ryan immediately sat up and shouted to bolster his courage.
