Homelander swallowed the explanation that had risen to his lips.
The corner of his eye twitched. This again!!!
The endless online abuse and attacks left him struggling to breathe.
"You people... have no idea what happened." Anger filled his chest, and energy surged inside him. He nearly lost control, Heat Vision briefly flaring in his eyes.
"I don't need you to believe me. At least I saved this person today, and that's enough."
With that, Homelander slammed the phone down and shot into the sky.
The passerby stared blankly at his smashed phone.
Hater +1
Once Homelander was out of everyone's sight, his emotions finally collapsed. A sense of grievance welled up, and tears blurred his vision.
"No, why would you..."
Like a heartbroken child, he sobbed and muttered to himself.
Early the next morning, Soldier Boy got out of bed.
After washing up, he greeted Neuman and Pete, who were sleeping by the door, then headed toward Homelander's room, humming a tune.
In the end, he was still worried about Homelander's state. He decided to stay close and keep watch, lest the kid's "convictions shatter."
He pounded hard on the door a few times, the dull thuds echoing down the hallway.
"Nobody here?" A little puzzled, he thought for a moment, then headed toward The Seven's Meeting Room.
The meeting room door was ajar and swung open with a gentle push.
Homelander sat in a chair, his elbows on his knees and his face buried in his hands. His cape trailed carelessly onto the floor, and he looked rather forlorn.
"Fuck, don't tell me you sat here all night?" Soldier Boy frowned as he walked over.
Homelander looked up at his voice, his expression dejected and his eyes filled with deep confusion.
He gave a feeble grunt in reply.
